I walked into the GCPD, little more irritable than I'd usually be. Not only was I cold and wet from the rain, I was also running on zero sleep. It's not that I couldn't. I just feel that I can't preform at my best when I'm exhausted.

Mind you, most probably can't.

I was prepared to head for my office and just hide myself away for the whole day. That way, I could relax and I wouldn't have to deal with the biting jabs my co-workers made.

Just as I'd began to head towards my office, I heard my name being called from across the precinct.

"Ed! Come here for a sec."

It was Captain Essen.

"What did you do this time?"

Oh, good. Now I have him berating me as well.

I was usually good at blocking him out while I was at work. He was reduced to nothing more than a voice in my head. Sometimes, I could even block him out completely.

I made my way over to Captain Essen's office and once I was there, she invited me inside. There was a girl, about mid twenties, standing in her office. I had never seen her before and I'm certain I would've remembered her, what with her shocking red hair and the bluest eyes I'd ever seen.

"Something I can do for you, Captain?" I asked politely, clasping my hands in front of me.

"Yes, Ed" Essen replied, directing her gaze towards the girl. "This is Agnes. She's going to be working in forensics with you."

The girl, who I now knew as Agnes, stuck her hand out in front of her with a bright smile.

"Agnus Wayan. Nice to meet you" She said excitedly.

"Edward Nygma. Nice to meet you, too" I said as I shook her hand, smiling back.
