Ella
My head pounds as my heels click clack against the concrete and I walk into the warehouse. I have a killer hangover, but Gilver called me in at three in the morning. He's dead once I get my hands on him. As I walk in, I see Shauna and Sam, shoving each other and Shauna shooting Adam deadly looks, like usual. I guess Adam and Shauna had another fling.
Sam stops shoving Shauna and nudges her in the ribs. Shauna looks over and grins. Shauna and Sam are probably two of the most beautiful girls I've ever met.
Shauna with her red hair with a black streak dyed in it and piercing green eyes and tanned skin, looked dark and mysterious with her leather jacket, combat boots, and gun. And once you meet her, you can't deny that she is Irish with her hair, her cussing problem, temper, and drinking problem. She moved from Ireland when she was 6 and still has a heavy accent.
Then there's Sam who is the only person who can rival Shauna, her best friend. Sam has long brown hair and brown eyes. She's usually wearing some fashionable or skimpy outfit, even though she's far from being that kind of girl. While Shauna is all angles and petite, Sam is tall and delicate with pale skin. She's from Georgia and has a slight southern drawl. Oddly enough, the two are best friends, but play argue.
Me, Justice, Shauna, and Sam are the only girls in the gang.
And when I say gang, I mean literal gang. Drugs, guns, assassinations, murder, seduction, etc. Both girls saunter over to me, wearing wry smirks.
"Well, well, well. I didn't know Gilver was calling you in, January." Shauna says.
"He told us that he was, dummy." Sam sighs, exasperated. Shauna throws a hand out, clamping it over her best friend's mouth with a glare. She then turns back to me, her eyes full of curiosity.
"What's going on?" I ask, annoyed. I'm never called in unless it's deathly serious. Or includes a boxing bet. I don't handle much. It's usually the boys who handle things. "Did Justice get called in?"
"She's with Gilver right now." Adam calls from across the room. He walks over by us and Shauna rolls her eyes, departing from us.
"Okay, but why are we here!" I snap, impatiently. My head is pounding again and all I want is to go back to sleep.
"There's a problem with the other gang. The girl you're going up against in two weeks, she's from the other gang. They sent us a threat saying if we don't back you out of the fight, they'll turn us in along with your parents." Sam explains. She looks truly sorry as she sees my panicked face. I want to cry or scream, but instead I run to Gilver's office door and throw it open.
Justice is sitting in the seat across from his desk. I'm fuming as I glare at Gilver. "You can't back me out!" I exclaim.
Gilver looks up, mildly surprised while my sister just looks weary.
"Ella, you have to understand. We're doing this to save you and your family-" he starts to say calmly.
"Bull shit! You're doing this so you don't end up in jail! If this threat had only been pointed towards me, you would have told me to fight! So bull shit!" I shout, shaking in anger. Justice gets up and walks over to me.
She brushes a strand of hair behind my ear, giving me a sympathetic look. "May, you're not even going to have to box much longer." She mutters, resting her hand on my cheek.
"But, I have to. Money-" I start to argue, but she shakes her head.
"No, Ella. I'm turning our mom and dad into the police today. Shauna is taking your place as the gangs fighter. I called Auntie last night, she says she'll take us." Justice explains. I stumble away from her, hurt and anger causing a war inside of me.
