I can't believe she'd say that to me. I know we don't seem like we're close and we're not, I just thought that she might consider me as an acquaintance at the very least. The look in her eyes had said it all as she had yelled at me that we weren't friends: She doesn't care.

Not about me, not about herself, not about anything. She's become cold and hard from living life the way she has. She's never had a dang good thing come her way in life. A pang of sympathy goes through me but I'm quick to squash it down, anger taking its place.

My phone rings, pulling me back to the real world. I decided to walk home after everything with Ella so I'm not worried about getting in an accident or anything. I wrinkle my nose in confusion as I see its my mom calling.

She doesn't call me unless something is wrong...

I answer it, quickly, worry for my twin wiggling its way into my heart. "Mom? What's going on?" Sobs and wails carry through the phone. From what I can tell, my mom is crying and a lot. "Mom, what's going on?"

"Oh, sweetie! I just came home and he's- oh, honey! You're father he's been murdered and Ana is injured! I'm at the hospital now!" She wails. My heart stops for a moment. My dad may not have been "#1 Dad" but he was my father and I love him. And Ana... Ana' s my world.

"On my way now." I whisper. I hang up and before I know it, I'm sprinting. My lungs begin to burn and my legs ache, but I ignore it. All that matters is getting to that hospital. I barge through the doors, my breathing heavy as I turn in circles, shouting Ana' s name.

A nurse runs over, looking wide eyed and worried. "Sir, can I help you?" She asks, politely.

"I'm here for Ana Cortez. She- she's my sister." I tell her, grabbing her arm. "Where is she? Is she okay?" The nurse looks through her papers then presses her lips together.

"She's in surgery now. I can show you to the waiting room, though? Would that be okay?" her soft tone of voice tells me she's been doing this for years. I nod, wearily. She gives me a small smile and leads me to a white room that is full of grief stricken people.

I look around, trying to find a good place to sit when my eyes land on a certain group of street rats. Shauna is pale and she's grasping Sam's hand so tightly, her knuckles are white. Next to Sam is Ivy who's eyes are swollen and tears are still leaking out of her eyes. Andrew is muttering comforting words to her while Jamie and Adam are pacing back and forth.

Ella is asleep, clutching a dark haired girl to her. From what I can tell, the little girl is awake. She looks up and I'm startled by how her ice blue eyes match Ella's. And I mean exactly alike. She even has the same distant look in them. As soon as she sees me though, it's gone replaced with a burning look of happiness and excitement.

She wriggles free of Ella's arms then slowly walks over to me. Her face is contorted in obvious pain and she stumbles. I catch her, crouching down by her. "Hi. You really shouldn't wander off, you know." I mutter, looking her up and down. I then look over to see if anyone noticed that the little girl has wandered off.

"Ell Bell is asleep. What she doesn't know won't hurt her." the little girl shrugs then smiles. "So, who are you? Do you know Ella or any of her friends?"

I nod. "I do, actually. I'm friends with... some of them."

"Some? Why not all?" She looks confused.

I lean close, like I'm telling her some sort of secret and whisper, "I don't think Ella likes me very much."

She giggles, covering her mouth. "Oh, I'm sure she does. Sometimes she's not very nice to people when she first meets them, but I'm sure she'll like you soon if she doesn't already." I open my mouth to answer but am cut off by a shrill cry.
