Tom's POV:It was a beautiful day! I woke up to the birds singing their pretty songs, and the Sun's gentle rays glowing on my face. I sat up and stretched my arms to the sky before rubbing my eyes. I got ready for the day, brushed my teeth, took a shower, put on clean clothes, ect.
That's when, I heard talking down the hall.It sounded like my friends where talking, so I ran out to the living room to join them.
"Hi guys!" I said with a wave and a smile spread across my face.
Matt just gave me a nod, and Edd and Tord both greeted me.I took at seat onto the couch next to Tord, it seemed like Edd and Matt were having a conversation about something serious, because they both had stern expressions.
"Matt! I don't want to! You know how I feel about the paranormal!" Edd said, sweat dripping down his face, and clenching onto his shirt nervously.
"Oh come on! Just live a little! It could work, it could not! Just have fun for once, a little excitement for once in your life!" Matt said, trying to defend some sort of point he had, and a small smile as he argued. Edd looked down at Tord, trying to get some sort of answer from him. Tord looked uneasy about something and looked down at his hands, which were folded nervously together.
"I..I don't know about this.." Tord said quietly. I gave a confused look at Edd and Edd's face lit up.
"Come on Tord! It'll be fun!" Matt said to Tord, trying to make eye contact with him, but he kept looking away.
"What about Tom? He doesn't know what were talking about! And as soon as you explain it, he'll be too afraid!" Edd said proudly, crossing his fingers.
"Tom, do you want to play a board game with us?" Matt said in a kind, playful tone as he crouched down to my level.
"What kind?" I said, tilting my head to the side.
"A game were we make ghost friends!" Matt says, pointing to a rectangular cardboard box, it was brown, and in huge, bold letters, it said Ouija on the cover.
"Ghost friends?" I asked. I looked over at Edd, as he walked out of the room quickly.
"Yup. We use this board that is inside the box, and what is also inside is a planchete. A planchete is a triangle plastic piece that has a clear circle in the middle. We play to find ghosts!"
"Why?" I asked Matt, as soon as he was done explaining.
"For fun, that's why." Matt said, and stood up. Edd walked back to the room with a silver cross neckless around his neck, and he was clutching it.
"You are insane, Matt." Edd muttered.
"It'll be fun guys, come on." Matt says, looking at all of us with his arms crossed. Tord reluctantly agreed with a slight nod, I gave Matt a friendly smile, and now we were all looking at Edd. Edd looked around the room, at us, the box, and the cross around his neck, and sighed.
"I guess.." Edd said finally.I was eating breakfast as Matt was setting the game up. Edd was standing, sweating nervously and looked very concerned about Matt and the board.
Tord sat on the couch, his knees were covering his mouth and his bangs were covering his right eye. He seemed quiet about all this, but I could tell he didn't want to play the game.
It's just a game, why was everyone so off? I mean, they're pretend ghosts, right?
I finished my food and set my dishes into the sink, walking over to my friends. I took a seat next to Tord again, as he was one of my closest friends. I gave him a smile, and he returned it by slowly lowering his knees onto the ground and gave me a soft smile, but worry still clouded his eyes.We all sat on the floor around the board, I was next to Matt, and Edd was next to Tord. Although, Edd was slightly seated away from the board, and a tiny bit behind Tord. (Hey that rhymed)
"Okay, here are some rules before we begin." Matt began. "Oh how wonderful, what's the first rule? Don't mess with Ouija boards?!" Edd said uncomfortably.
"Actually, yes." Matt muttered.
But before anyone could respond, Matt began telling us the rules.
"Number one, don't play by yourself.
Number two, don't take your hands off the planchete until the game is over.
And number three, don't forget to say goodbye." The room went silent. Edd seemed to be very uncomfortable, and shifted more away from the board.
"What happens if we break all the rules?" I asked. Matt looked at with me with a smirk and in a low, cold, uncomfortable voice, said, "lets try not to find out."
One by one, we all gently placed our hands on the planchte. I could feel Edd's hands trembling nervously when I placed my fingers gently onto the triangle peice. We all spun it into a circle three times and stopped.
"Is there any spirits that would like to talk to us?" Matt teasingly asked. At first, it didn't do anything. But after a couple seconds, it started moving very slowly to no. Edd was shaking and looked up at Matt.
"Alright, knock it off." Edd told Matt sternly.
"I didn't do anything?" Matt said with a smirk.
"I-I believe you moved it, Matt. This has to be some sort of joke." Edd stuttered nervously. Matt raised his eyebrows and his smirk faded, then Matt chuckled.
"It wasn't me, I swear." Matt said. Edd was silent, staring at the board.
"Well it said no." Tord started.
"Maybe it doesn't want to talk..."
I nodded my head to Tord's assumption.
"It's fine." Matt said. Matt cleared his throat before asking if anybody wanted to ask a question. Edd nodded his head, and Matt raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"A-Are you a....evil spirit or content spirit..?" Edd stuttered, using one of his hands to clutch the cross around his neck.
"Content..." Matt mocked.
Then suddenly, slowly, the board spelled out "evil." Everyone stayed in shock for at least a whole minute. Did it really say evil? Was Matt pranking us? Then, Edd chuckled.
"Well...isn't that a fantastic way to add onto my anxiety..?" Edd sarcastically stated. The lights above us started to flicker, and I was upset at the fact that maybe the ghost would put out our lights, not only would it be creepy, it would be very rude. I was beginning to wonder if we could maybe stop playing?
"I wanna stop.." I said suddenly.
Matt looked surprised that I said this and Edd sighed with relief."We can't stop now! Its just now getting good!" Matt protested.
I sighed softly. Catching us off guard, the board started to spell something. "Stop" that gave me so many chills. Tord started to tear up, and that made me worry about him. I took my hands off the board and patted Tord's back, telling him its going to be okay.
Everyone stared at me in disbelif.
"What?" I asked.
"You took your hands off." Matt said to me. I looked down and I quickly stopped what I was doing and swiftly put my hands back on the planchte trying to pretend nothing happened.
"Tom, You broke a rule.." Matt said quietly.
