Going to school is challenging. Getting through the day is challenging. Talking to people is challenging. Everything is just…..challenging. Especially when you are known as a “nerd”. Being called a nerd is really the worst thing that could ever happen. I don’t TRY to be a nerd, I’m just trying to get a good education.
Everyday I pass by this cute guy with short brown hair, and a bright smile. He is literally all I look forward to each and every day. I watch him with his friends and smile when he smiles, and laugh when he laughs. But surely he would never pay attention to me.
It was towards the end of the day and I had just left my class in tears after the whole class decided to pick on me. We are in high school, don’t you think it’s time to mature up? I tried to hide it, though the tears just came straight out. I ducked my head and power walked down the hallway and headed for the door, bumping shoulders forcefully with someone on my way out. I didn’t bother looking back though.
Once I was outside, I walked to the flag pole that was pretty far away from the school, at least far enough that no one would see me here. I threw my stuff on the pavement surrounding it and plopped down on the ground. I just let my sobs fly. “Your glasses look stupid. Your braces make your mouth look big.” was all that was going through my head. I buried my head in my knees.
”Are you alright?” I heard a voice say. I jumped up and quickly wiped my tears away. “Yeah. I’m fine.” I said simply, going to go pick up my stuff. He grabbed my arm before I could do anything and I just hugged him hard. He hugged me tightly and rubbed my back softly. “You want to know something?” He said. “What?” I asked pulling away. “I think you’re beautiful.” He said, wiping my tears and pushing my hair away from my face. I blushed and shook my head. “I’m serious! I want to get to know you. Would you like to go to the movies sometime?” He asked. “Are you being serious, or is this a joke?” I asked skeptically. He looked me dead in the eye and said “I don’t joke around with beautiful girls.”
After a few dates, me and Cameron started dating and things got a lot better for me. We love each other so much and I no longer feel like a nerdy loner.
