I'm sorry, guys, but there are a couple things I really need to let off some steam about. Don't bother reading this if you don't want to hear it, I won't be upset. :)
And, yes, there is going to be some frustration that is clearly evident in this, so if you don't want to hear that, read no further.
But, really, I need to say this somewhere. I'm sorry.
Rant Number One:
The first thing is pretty simple I guess.
I just can't get why some people seem to think that a woman must be either completely incapable, or she has to be "showing up" all the guys around her. I mean, WHY?!?
If a girl shows interest in being a stay-at-home mother, or appreciates when men are polite and gentlemanly, or she actually enjoys it when a man does something for her, suddenly she's a damsel in distress. And if she tries to do things herself, or if she doesn't want to marry or be in a relationship, then suddenly she's a feminist warrior woman who doesn't need no man.
And women doing either thing get both ecstatic (and sometimes super rude) affirmation, and also they get a lot of flack, whether what the admirers and/or haters think they are doing is what they are actually doing with their lives.
I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting, but seriously, people! WHY DO PEOPLE PUT THESE ABUSRD LABLES AND ASSUMPTIONS ON WOMEN!?!?
When I read the Bible, I see neither a D.I.D. or a Feminist Man hater as the ideal role model for a godly woman. I see single women being respectful to men and being capable on their own. I see married women being under the authority of their husband, but also doing what needs to be done in the home and abroad. So why do so many people not seem to be willing to accept that every person is different, and to assign a cardboard cutout stereotype to a person, be they male of female, is just plain rude?
Okay. My first rant is over with.
Yeah, I know. It was pretty stupid, but I needed to say that.
On to...
Rant Number Two:
This one is more serious to me, because I know somebody who seems to have this misconception. And it makes my blood boil....sooo I think I'd better wait before I talk to them about it. If anybody has advice, it would be very appreciated.
Okay, here goes.
It seems that some people think that it is interesting, or fascinating (or maybe they think it's cool and edgy?) but whatever the reason, when they talk about God, they try to go "dark" with things.
For instance, they seem to think that God the Father, in particular, has this derision and disgust for humanity in general, and he is just practically salivating over doomsday, when he will finally be able to wipe out all those pathetic mortals who were too stupid to hear his Salvation call.
They try to give God a dark side, that just isn't there.
True, God is just. But also true, God is merciful and loving. It says that he wills ALL to come to repentance (1st or 2nd Peter...I can't remember.) and, he loved us so much he sent his son to die for us. That is the gospel. So how can a person who is a Christian try to add a dark, vindictive, hateful side to God, in whom "there is no darkness?" (1 John).
Since when has justice equated to hate and lack of caring?
I just don't get it, and it frustrates me pretty badly.
Anyway, that's all I really had. And if you're still reading, wow. Thank you for taking time out of your day to hear me out. :)
That said, my rants are now over.
