Eleven was broken from her sleep for an unknown reason. As she was coming to, she couldn't figure out what exactly took her out of such a deep slumber. She could feel Mike's warm body pressed against her, so she at least knew that he was fine. Her heavy eyes let themselves fall shut, but they sprung open once there was a boom of thunder that caused the furniture in their apartment to rattle. Not even a second after the roll of thunder there was a flash of lightening that made the apartment look lit up.

El was trying to focus on Mike's soothing breaths that were hitting her ear. It was something that has helped her get through storms before. However, before she could allow herself to settle, more thunder and lightening came.

The thoughts she was trying so hard to repress came forward.

At first, she was brought to the memory of her first room. The one that was white and made her an established prisoner.

The thought grew larger and she swore she could see the silhouette of a white haired man wearing a suit, watching her from the doorway.

She closed her eyes tightly and tried to think of something comforting.

She thought of clutching at the soft stuffed animal she had when she was papa's prisoner. Before she knew what was happening, she could feel her limbs begin to tremble.

Before she allowed herself to get any more upset, she softly removed herself from Mike's embrace. She didn't want him to deal with this. He doesn't deserve to be in charge of her every time she crumbles at strange memories.

Once El successfully tiptoed her way out of their bedroom, she set herself in the corner of her kitchen. She felt safer in this position because she could see almost every portion of her and Mike's apartment.

The pounding in her ears became louder when she heard the torrential rain beginning to mix with the storm that was already raging.

She left her safe spot in the corner to fill up her teapot. It was when she first turned her back to the apartment that she felt her powers move on edge. She thought she heard something bang from within the apartment and could've sworn she heard talking.

She convinced herself to ignore it, claiming it was her memories and the storm. A bad combination for her trauma. But the bad men were gone. All of the monsters she's had to face are not here anymore.

"It's just the storm, El. Don't let these thoughts get to you.", she whispered to herself in attempt to calm herself down.

She regretted ignoring such instincts when she felt a touch come from behind her and she braced herself for a fight.

Mike was awoken by the sounds of heavy rain hitting the top of his and El's apartment building. It was so loud he was surprised the roof didn't give way.

He knew how much his fiancée hated storms, so he flexed his arm to bring El closer to his body to assure she felt safe even in her sleep.

However, his arm pulled itself right into his own abdomen. It was in that moment that he shot up into an upright position. His girl wasn't next to him. She was always beside him.

Something was wrong. He flung himself out of bed and stubbed his toe on their nightstand. "Ok, ow, don't have time for pain, focus on El", he muttered to himself.
