Two weeks had passed and Heeji still refused to believe the truth. She should've realized it sooner. Recognized who he really was.
The fact that she loved a man who saved her from misery had already someone loving him with him loving her all the same.
Eunsook was a lucky bitch.
and she was only the girl who stood on the side. She was not angry, no she was not. She was sad, pain eating her up and locking her inside the quarters given to her to spend in.
She debated running away. To forget and to maybe start again. But she knew her heart only rested with him.
The man who made her smile. Who helped her realize who she could really be.
And that man was another's woman.
A knock came from the door before it swunh open slowly. Dressed in nothing but a white, cotton dress, Eunsook entered the room.
Heeji did not greet her, much more gave her attention. The air between them was tense. The air between everyone in the mansion was tense.
Eunsook cleared her throat, hoping to get the lady's attention but she continued to stare at the blank white wall. Silent. Waiting and praying.
Eunsook bit her lip. She should be the onev devastated for all that he and she endured and went through together. Yet, the woman infront of her, sitting on the bed was broken.
"Would you like to go for a walk?" Eunsook asked softly, almost whispering knowing the air could carry her question due to the silence.
Heeji heard the words but threw her no look. She had been like this for the past two weeks. Eunsook had also been like this for the past two weeks.
Her throat ached as she spoke, words raspy and rough, "Yes" she finally answered.
Eunsook's eyes widened, finally remembering how Heeji's voice sounded like. So much like a melody even when it had been held back for weeks.
She smiled a little, a glimmer of hope in her eyes as she turned to leave the room. "I'll leave you to get ready. I'll be waiting outside." and with that she left the room.
Heeji didn't know what had gotten into her. Saying yes to something she had been saying no to.
Yet, she felt lighter, as if she could finally let go of the breath she had been holding for so long.
Her breaths came in deep, long and relaxed, the atmosphere seeming to change. She slowly made her way off the bed as she combed her hair with her fingers.
She didn't care much about how she looked, still afraid to look into the mirror and see just how affected she really was.
She slid on the pair of slippers and went out the room, greeting Eunsook with a small smile.
The walk to the back of the mansion was quiet, each other weirdly comfortable with the silence.
"The weather is great today" Eunsook commented, looking up to the sky with feather-like clouds and the sun shining brightly. Heeji nodded as her hair flew along with the cold breeze.
Silence came again as Heeji followed suit, sitting on the grass of the garden as Eunsook laid down.
"What was Luhan like before?" Heeji asked slowly, afraid she might've asked the wrong question.
But to her relief, Eunsook just laughed lightly and paused before replying. "He was a monster. A terrifying one at that but- I love him."
And she told her everything. From the day she had been brought into the mansion. The day they had been connected. The day she knew about her past and his past. When they discovered their real enemy and went through it together. Till the day she lost him and found him once again.
Heeji was silent all throughout, even as she finished, she was still silent, not knowing whay to say.
So Eunsook just finished it for her, "I love Luhan. I think that much is obvious" she spoke, throwing Heeji a side glance as she stood up.
"I hope next time you can tell me your story" She smiled and left.
Heeji stayed there a minute more before whispering to herself, "I love him too."
