I could feel his scent. It was faint but it was there and claiming I was excited was definitely an understatement. My Goddess, he smelled deliciously of minty freshness and woodsy spice-some of my favorite things. But his scent was faint and having so many people around was not helping my case. Where are you my mate?

I was walking somewhat blindly, deeply focusing on the scent until I felt it strongly. He was close, something that made me sprint off in its direction and bump into someone. I was goddamn furious looking up, seeing a boy's confused face turn into a creepy smirk. Don't get me wrong, the boy was cute but any attention from anyone who wasn't my mate, made me sick.

"Why hello there beautiful..." He said leisurely. "You know you didn't have to run into me to get my attention right?"

I scrunched my face in disgust and gave him a once over, something he mistook as me confessing my undying love for him, since his smirk just grew bigger.

"You wish. I was just too focused on something else to pay attention to where I was going."

"Excuses, excuses princess." I made a face at that. Man, he did not get body language at all. Or actual language for that matter...

"First of all - don't call me princess, that shit is annoying. Secondly - I'm leaving." 

And with that I resumed my search for my mate. I bet he is handsome and strong. He will definitely feel the mate bond immediately and we will love each other unconditionally. I just know it!

After about five minutes and in front of a laser tag place, I could just feel his presence in there. Excitedly I entered the place, accidentally banging the door to the wall, which brought all the attention to me. But I couldn't care less because there standing just 20 feet away from me was the cutest guy I have ever laid my eyes on. To say I was absolutely starstruck was an understatement, that's how perfect he was... Tall, dark and handsome was well-suited, followed by a lithe body wrapped in simple black jeans and white shirt, and a jawline to die for. But his eyes, oh dear they were nothing but dark pools of brown and black, ready to lure me in and be the end of me. I could feel his dark eyes on me, tracing my skin making me almost jump from excitement. But why didn't he come to me? Hold me? Claim me as his mate?

A frown crowned his delightful face as people on the background started talking. Ah yes, there are other people here... But something is off with my mate, I can feel it.

His wolf. I cannot feel his wolf and if his wolf is not there... he is a human? My mate is human... I could feel my heart shatter upon my realization that my mate, the one who is supposed to love me, cherish me and claim me is human. He doesn't know, does he? He doesn't know of my infinite love for him. He doesn't because he is human and for humans, feelings like that are just preposterous. He doesn't feel the pull between us, the need to grab him, hug him and kiss the life out of him. All these feelings release themselves on me in just a second. 

Things resume their natural flow outside of my head and my mate turns his eyes towards his friends. I could cry right there and then, but I didn't. For me it felt as if he had rejected me, but for him? It was just refocusing in his conversation after a disruptive stranger ruined their focus. I went on and sat on the sofa opposite to where my mates friends were, pretending to scroll through social media. As soon as I sat, a familiar annoying voice grabbed my attention.
