Plankton thankfully hired me and I was making a pretty good amount of money. Of course, nobody except Patrick came in, and that was solely just to visit me.

"..Are you happy here?" I nodded with an enthusiastic smile. "Yep! Plankton pays me well, and he doesn't yell at me unnecessarily!" Patrick smiled strangely and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Well, I'm just glad you're happy." He then eased from his seriousness and his face lit up.
"Ooh, after work do you want to go jellyfishing?" I happily obliged for once.

Break rolled around and Plankton asked if I wanted to go to lunch. "Sure!" I don't think Karen cared much these days. She just beeped in disinterest and shut herself off.

Ugh, if only Squidward didn't work at the Krusty Krab. I was craving a krabby patty really badly. "Spongebob, if you want to go to the Krusty Krab, I'll order." I guess my thoughts were evident on my face.

I sighed in slight relief and smiled nervously. "O-okay..." we walked into my former working place and it seemed so strange. A few customers gave me strange looks while others greeted me happily.

"Spongebob?!" Someone spat. I grimaced and turned in the direction of Squidward's voice. He proceeded to narrow his eyes and I quickly looked away, desperately avoiding his wine irises.

She really had to come here for lunch. My stupid heart began to beat erratically and I mentally cursed myself. On top of that, I was blushing and had this feeling in my stomach.

Wait, maybe it was indigestion.

Looking away from her, I looked down at the guy she came here with. I growled and forced a cool expression on my face. "Welcome to the Krusty Krab," I seethed. "May I take your order?"

"Um..I'll take two krabby patties, some fries, and two drinks."

After that damn organism paid, I passed the order onto Rosie. "Damn yellow fool," I mumbled, glaring at her. Her baby blue pools avoided my gaze and she talked to Plankton.

A smile bloomed across her face, and I was mesmerized. Her smile is beautiful. Plankton poked her cheek and acted like a dork, and of course, Spongebob blushed.

I wanted nothing more than to rip him apart. He shouldn't be here with her. Clenching my jaw, I turned to the next stupid customer and took their order.

"Spongebob, I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be back in a few minutes." Once the nuisance left, I shifted my gaze back to the petite blonde. She sat with her legs crossed, sipping delicately at her drink.

She still wore her usual attire, except she didn't have her usual Krusty Krab hat. I angrily hoisted myself up from my usual spot and stalked over to Spongebob.

"What do you think you're doing here?!" She looked up at me, fear prominent on her face. "I-I just came here for lunch, Squidward." She fidgeted in her seat uncomfortably and looked down at her lap.

She nervously bit her lip and it just fueled to my anger. "Out of everybody here, you had to bring our enemy?! The one who tried to steal our formula multiple times? The one who used you just to get to the recipe?!"

She flinched but yelled, "He's a good person now! He's been more of a friend than you ever have!" Okay, that actually hurt. "You-! You yellow idiot!"

Her lip quivered and she wiped away the tears that were falling. "Why are you even mad? I've avoided contact with you...Whatever, I'm moving away from you as soon as possible."

She's...moving?!

Damn me and my pride.

"What?! Moving??" She nodded happily...like she used to. "Yep! There's a much nicer house for sale, and I'm just saving up at the moment!" Spongebob's happiness quickly soured. "Anyways, since I bring you the upmost sadness and annoyance, I'm just going to go."

About an hour after Spongebob left, Rosie came up to me. "That was Spongebob, right? Well...she's quite the looker." She laughed at my blushing face. "You tried to be mean, but you were blushing around her the whole time, dude."

My eyes narrowed. "What? I was not!" She chuckled dryly. "Yeah, okay. If I were you though, I'd tell her how I felt."

I scoffed and said, "what do you mean? I don't feel anything for that idiot."

Lies.

She seemed to pick up on my lie since she narrowed her eyes. "Okay. Anyways, have a nice night, Squidward." I huffed in annoyance. Maybe she was right. I groaned in frustration.

Why was I so mean to her? Dammit, those big aqua eyes filled with tears were weakening. I sighed. After work was over, I noted how strange it was to walk home alone.

~

Sometimes after work, Spongebob would ask for piggy back rides. This would annoy me, but I'd still give her one.

With her slender arms around my neck, she'd nuzzle the crook of my neck and talk to me about work.

"It was a great day, wasn't it?" I hummed in agreement. She giggled and proceeded to twirl my silken locks around her finger. "Everyday is always fun, especially since I get to be around you!"

My eyes widened considerably and I couldn't help but to blush profusely. "S-Spongebob, stop it with your damn nonsense!"

She stayed silent for a second. "It's true though," she said mostly to herself but I could still hear. I finally stood in front of her house and let her down.

"Thank you Squidward!" She smiled and kissed my nose. Damn it...I'm blushing again! I scowled deeply and walked back to my house.

~

I was really beginning to miss her. Her happiness was my light. Everything about her brought me euphoria.

I need her back, and I can't let her move.

I'm sorry about the late update. I've been dealing with a lot, and it prevented me from being here. Anyways, thank you so so much for your patience, and I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Xx
