Late Realizations (Human! Fem! Spongebob x Squidward)

Chapter One: Realizations

All I could do was stare at the Krabby patty while I stood in the kitchen. Squidward...I-he actually hit me! I guess I never realized how annoying I could be.

All of those times I thought Squidward was just shy or having a bad day, he was actually annoyed. He was angry. "You idiot!"

I snapped out of my daydream and blinked several times. Looking up, I realized it was Squidward. "You're burning the meat you moron! Flip it!!"

I quickly did as he said and felt cries trying to bubble up. "I-I'm sorry," I squeaked fearfully. "I was just-" he gave me a disinterested glare before finally spitting, "Shut up already, you stale-brained idiot! Hurry with the food, the customers are waiting."

The teal-haired man's eyes narrowed in irritation. "I'm sorry," I whispered, shrinking under his fiery gaze. He stared at me for the longest time before letting a scowl form on his lips.

Once work was over, I decided to go see Patrick. He always made me feel better on a rough day. "Hey Spongebob!" Patrick yelled, causing me to wince.

"Hey," I smiled lightly and gave into his welcoming hug. At least Patrick cared about me. I told him everything that happened that day even though he gave me a blank stare.

"Uh...let's go Jellyfishing!" He giggled and threw me a net. I loved jellyfishing, but all I could think about was Squidward's hatred towards me.

The way his eyes filled with disgust every time he saw me never really affected me at first. I refused to accept that he hated me.

He expressed his hatred multiple times and even threatened me, but I thought he didn't mean it. I just thought that he was being his regular self.

All of these realizations came crashing down on me and I felt awful.

I wished I would've accepted these realizations sooner.
