Chapter Five: Malheureux

Hello!! Ugh, I can't believe it's been SO LONG SINCE I'VE UPDATED. Seriously, school consumes my life smh. Anyways, this is more of a filler, but I hope you still enjoy!

Spongebob

My house was silent, with the exception of my silent cries. I missed him; his laugh, his smile, his hair, his eyes, everything.

The memories of us came to me at once. My heart ached terribly, especially at a certain one I cherished.

It was another day at the Krusty Krab, and I was as bubbly as usual. "Spongebob, is order number two done yet?" I looked up at Squidward with a smile and nodded. "Here you go Squiddy!"

I had to bite my lip to keep myself from squealing when our hands made contact. "So what are your plans for tonight?" I saw his features brighten considerably as he said, "I'm taking someone out tonight."

I felt my heart sink and my eyes water. "Oh..." I faked a smile and forced a laugh. "Who's the lucky lady?" I asked, and he smiled lightly. "A friend from high school."

It felt like my heart was being ripped from my chest, but I managed to keep my misery in. His smile immediately turned back into a disinterested glare. "Anyways, get back to work, the customers are hungry."

I took in a shaky breath but nodded, feeling uncomfortable under his lingering stare. I finished up the greasy food, and tried to cheer myself up. "Oh Squiddy~!" I soon heard a female squeal and saw her run up to Squidward. His smile was radiant as he slipped his arms around her.

"Cindy, I haven't seen you in ages!" My lip quivered and I almost sobbed hysterically before he turned to me. "Spongebob, this is the one I was telling you about."

I faked my smile and waved. "Hahaha, nice to meet you!" The woman was gorgeous. Her bright, honey eyes complemented her flawless skin, along with her silky hair.

Giving me a judgmental stare, she narrowed her eyes and stuck her nose up. "Anyways, I'm heading out early." He took the petite, ginger-haired woman my the waist and gently escorted her out.

"I-I..." I couldn't finish my sentence since I began to sob. I wanted to be the one he held so intimately...

"Lassie!"

Mr. Krabs came in and looked at me in annoyance. "What's the-?" His eyes softened when he saw me, and he-uncharacteristically-took me into open arms. "There, there lassie. Now why don't you come over to me office and tell me what's wrong?"

"M-Mr. Krabs," I wheezed once he closed his office door. "It's Squidward-! H-he's..." I burst into tears again, covering my wet face with my hands. "I wanted...to be with him..!" I struggled to catch my breath and pathetically wiped away at my own tears.

"...you really love that man don't ye?" I sniffed and wiped my eyes once more, looking up at the red headed man. "W-what?" He smirked knowingly and pat me on the shoulder. "Nothing. Why don't ya go home for the day?"

I trudged home, feeling absolutely awful. My heart was hurting too much. The thought of Squidward with that woman made my eyes sting with tears.

She was absolutely beautiful, too.

I staggered into my house, crying even more. "Meow?" I looked over at Gary and smiled sadly. "It's Squidward," I mumbled, causing Gary to hiss.

"I know, I should've known he didn't like me! I was too blind to see reality!!" I wailed loudly, feeling the warm tears roll down my cheeks. This went on for a good ten minutes until I heard an irritated yell.

Wait, what?

"SPONGEBOB!!"

I hiccuped and opened my door, meeting an angry aqua-haired man. "Will you stop screaming?! I'm trying to sleep!!" I choked out a protest, trying to tell him he was the reason I was crying.

His scowl deepened as he took a step closer to me. Then, in one swift movement, he cupped my face and gently pressed his lips against mine, effectively shutting me up.

His kiss only lasted for a few seconds, but it was enough to make my head spin. As he pulled back, he stared into my eyes with his wine ones. He sighed, stepping back before saying, "Just...just go to sleep, Spongebob."

With that said, he left.
