Chapter 3
“Do girls always take that long to change? It’s been almost 15 minutes.” Ryan asked. “Dude, 15 minutes is considered a short time with girls especially Sophia.” Replied Jeremy and Ryan groaned.
“Hey I heard that!” Sophia came down the stairs. “Dressing up the correct way and not turning out to be looking like a cow in a ballet tutu is important. Right Maya? ” She looked at Maya and all she did was shrug.
Wow Maya looks so beautiful. Ryan thought to himself. Ryan always had a crush on Maya. But he couldn’t tell her. If only she knew the messages he sent her was about her. Shut up Ryan. She can’t know especially since she only sees you as a best friend or a brother. He thought to himself.
“So are we going? Or are we just going to stand here and stare at each other?” asked Sophia “Hurry up! I don’t wanna miss the sales!”
“I’m driving!” Maya said. “SO you can show off your Ferrari? I don’t think so.” Replied Jeremy “I’m driving. ”
“Whatever”
Ryan sat in the passenger seat and he watched Maya get into the car as gracefully as a swan and she sat beside Sophia.
“OMG! Turn the radio up! I love this song!” screamed Sophia. “Me too!” said Maya and they both started singing to “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Jeremy turned into the parking lot of the shopping centre and parked his car right in front of the entrance. “Wow, lucky day guess.” Said Jeremy.
“Oh my gosh. What is she wearing? That so does not suit her shoes or her handbag.” He didn’t have to turn around to see who said that. Maya laughed and asked “What’s wrong with that Sophia? I think it is OK.”
“What is wrong with you? Her shoes are black and her handbag is yellow! Her shirt is red! Do you not see the wrongness it that outfit?” Sophia freaked out. Maya just shrugged. Ryan could feel his pants getting tighter as he looked at Maya.
Jeremy pulled him aside and whispered “Dude! Why are you looking at Maya like that and it is so obvious that your pants are tight.”
Ryan turned his face to hide his embarrassment. “Wait, you like her don’t you?” Jeremy asked.
“Like who?” Maya was standing beside him with a curious expression. “Nobody.” he answered. She raised an eyebrow and stared at the guys.
They walked into the shopping mall and unfortunately the first shop had to be a shoe shop. Sophia being Sophia ran into the shop and went immediately to the sale section. They followed her inside and Maya was looking at the shoes and she followed Sophia. He was about to follow her when Jeremy pulled him back.
He only said one word “Spill.” Ryan looked at him with sadness in his eyes.
“What do you want me to say? Isn’t it obvious enough?”
“Judging from how tight your pants get when you look at her. Yea too obvious someone a mile away could have seen. It was just luck she didn’t” Jeremy winked at him and Ryan just scowled back.
“Seriously those shoes were so last century.” Sophia came out of the shop flipping her hair. “Well, there were some nice ones.” Maya replied. Sophia just raised an eyebrow. “What? There were.” Maya said.
Ryan was looking at Maya when her face changed from a matter-of-fact to a Hell-no facial expression. She was staring at someone behind him. Sophia noticed as well and she herself and said “Oh My Gosh.”
Wow! Was all Maya could think of. Sophia and Maya had always been big fans of Harry Potter. Now, right there, in front of them was a shop selling everything that you could find in the Harry Potter movies and also selling anything that has to do with Harry Potter.
Both the girls looked at each other and ran inside. They did not bother calling the guys because they didn’t like Harry Potter and they did not want to waste any time.
“I am so glad I saved my money.” said Maya.
“This is better than any sale I ever went to and trust me that is saying something.” Said Sophia
They came out of the shop to see the guys flirting with two girls. One of the girls had beautiful, wavy golden hair and the other had shoulder length black hair. Maya and Sophia walked up to them.
“Well, well and who are these?” asked Maya.
“These are two hot girls that we just met. They were waiting for their also-Harry-Potter obsessed friends. I see you guys bought the whole shop.” Jeremy said in his normal trying-to-act –cool tone.
“Haha, very funny Jeremy.” said Sophia.
“Jeremy? I thought you said your name was Tom.” The blonde one asked Jeremy.
“Umm…Err… Jeremy? Who is that?” Jeremy pretended.
“Tom? Seriously? ” Maya said. Maya and Sophia burst out laughing and Ryan smiled. They were practically rolling on the floor when the two girls walked away with angry expressions on their faces.
“Hi Tom! Nice to meet you” said Maya still laughing so hard she felt as if her stomach was going to explode.
“Ohmigosh! You should have seen you face. It was priceless” said Sophia in between laughs.
Jeremy scowled at them and said “Well look who we have here.”
Maya turned around and stopped laughing immediately. Sophia turned around to see what happened and said “Oh.”
Ian Davis was walking in their direction. Jeremy knew that Maya had a crush on Ian so he shouted just to get back at her. “Ian! Hey man whats up?”
Maya felt the blood rise up to her cheeks. She scowled at Jeremy and hid behind Ryan. He smiled at her and said “Hi.” To Ian.
“Hey Maya right? What are you doing behind there? You look like a little puppy.” He asked.
Maya felt herself stop breathing and she answered “Nothing. Um… oh.” She stuttered and gave a nervous giggle.
“So what are you guys doing here?” Ian asked
“Nothing much, just walking around. Wanna join us?” Jeremy asked and winked at Maya.
“Sure, I’d love to.” He smiled. Maya stifled a groan and subconsciously fixed her hair. She turned to Sophia and whispered “Is my hair OK?” Sophia nodded and winked. The whole time in the mall Maya couldn’t help herself to keep looking at Ian. She might have already looked at him a million times.
A few hours later, the mall was already closing. They said their goodbyes to Ian.
“See you guys tomorrow at school. We all have third hour together right?” Ian asked
Everyone nodded and Ian smiled “Great then. Goodbye.”
Their eyes met and Maya blushed scarlet and she turned away so he couldn’t see.

They climbed into Jeremy’s BMW and drove home.
“Hey you guys wanna have a sleepover at my house?” Maya asked and everyone agreed.
When they reached Maya’s house porch there was already a car in the drive way.
“Looks like your parents are back.” Said Sophia and they all walked into the house.
“Hi mum. Hi dad” said Maya when she saw them come out of the kitchen.
