Chapter 6
Maya was getting used to talking to Ian though he still makes her heart flutter. When Ian put his arm around her, she could have sworn Ryan looked a bit weird but she decided to ignore it.
Immediately she forgot about what happened in class and about Erik. Her friends always made her feel better. She looked up at Ian and he winked at her. Maya smiled back and he squeezed her shoulder.
They lined to get their food. Maya took some macaroni and a cup of her favourite jelly. She was going to pay when Ian said “I’ll pay for these.” He told the woman behind the counter and handed her the money.
“Nice boyfriend you have here.” She said
“Umm… he’s not my boyfriend.” Maya replied and she felt blood rise up to her cheeks.
Ian laughed and said “Soon.” Maya looked at him shocked and the woman smiled.
They found an empty table and sat together. Sophia sat on the opposite of Maya and Ryan and Jeremy sat on either sides of her.
Halfway through their meals Kendall snuck up behind Sophia and closed her eyes with both his hands. He beckoned for us to be quiet.
“Kendall, you’ve got to stop that. I get a heart attack every time you do that.” She said and Kendall let go of her. She looked at him and he smiled at her.
“Sorry for interrupting guys. Soph, I just wanted to ask if you are free tonight? Maybe we could umm…do the project?” he asked
“Umm...Yea sure drop by at 5.” She smiled. He nodded and walked away.
“You know, I could bet you a million dollars that you guys are going to end up together.” Jeremy told Sophia. “Isn’t it obvious enough?” Ryan asked smiling.
“Shut up you guys.” Sophia said blushing. “Well, it’s not like I could say no to him.” She added quietly.
Everyone laughed and Maya said “Sophia I just noticed how long was it since you dumped Justin?”
“Almost two years… wow that’s long. Well it’s not like I didn’t have any admirers. It’s just none of them are as cute as Kendall.” She shrugged.
They finished their lunch and put their plates and trays away. “So what are we going to do now?” Ryan asked. They looked around and decided to go sit beside the fountain. The fountain was Maya’s favourite place in the whole school because it was so beautiful.
“I feel like ditching school.” complained Jeremy. “The lessons after lunch are so boring.”
A grin spread everyone’s faces and Maya wriggled her eyebrows. They ran towards their cars and drove out of school. Maya was leading since they were all going to her house. Ian was behind her, then Sophia then Jeremy and Ryan.
Maya turned on a radio and put the sound to the max and started singing to the music. She parked in the driveway of her house and killed the engine. Everyone got out of their cars and raced into Maya’s house.
“I feel a little dirty today.” Jeremy said. Right its Jeremy we are talking about. Always the dirty minded one Maya thought
“Who wants to play spin-the-bottle?” Jeremy asked
