To improve security in the CIA, it had been proposed that a 3rd party company would be used to safely store private information in their database. In case of a hack of the CIA database, The Gemini Project would allow the CIA to delete all files from the database, and once the security threat is removed, transfer everything back over.
The company of choice is American Private Secure Database Incorporated ("American PSDB"). 43% of all CIA data has been applied to the Gemini Project and is secure. However, for privacy reasons, the public wants the data back in the government and not in the hands of some 3rd party company.
The government has vowed to stop this Gemini Project, despite the contract the CIA originally signed with American PSDB not having ended. This has sparked a court battle, which turned in favour of the government of the USA. After the court battle, American PSDB announced that they would be exposing all of the Gemini Project (files and data that had been given to American PSDB), meaning that 43% of the CIA would be leaked and exposed to the whole country.
