Chapter 4: Surprise

Kylie's POV
Gabi pa lang, busy na ako sa pagbbake ng cake for tomorrow's event. Si mom pa naghehelp sakin sa pagdesign ng cake because she's really creative.
I don't know but I'm half happy and half I-don't-know-what-to-feel feeling. Happy, of course because I'm the one baking the cake for my girl best friend's 19th birthday surprise. But at the same time, I really don't know this strange feeling and I don't really like it. I kinda don't want what I am doing right now.
If only Josh didn't ask me to do this, I sighed. Or maybe if I'm doing this because I was the one who thought of this.
"Kylie, medyo sunog na yung babang part," sabi ni mom nang baliktarin namin yung kakalabas lang namin na cake sa oven. "I think kelangan mong ulitin."
Doon, medyo nafrustrate na ako. Ang hirap kayang gumawa ng chiffon cake. Sa egg part pa lang, hassle na.
Kung di ko kaya to gawin? tanong ko sa sarili ko.
But in the end, I gave in. Jess is still my best friend.
"Okay mom," sagot ko kay mommy and I did the procedures again.

The next day, as usual, struggle na naman sa pagbangon. Kung hindi pa ako tinawagan ni Josh...
"Good morning, baby," he greeted me enthusiastically.
Syempre kilig naman ako deep inside. Hindi ko na napigilang umupo sa bed at mapangiti, "Good morning, too."
"Huhulaan ko," he giggled, "hindi ka pa bumabangon noh?"
"Nakaupo na ako ng kama!" depensa ko.
"Haha, ikaw talaga." I was about to speak pero bigla ulit siyang nagsalita, "Sige na bangon na, baby. We need to prepare for Jesse's birthday. I'll be coming over to fetch you."
At doon, nawala na yung ngiti ko. Great. Just great.
"Kylie? Still there?"
He called my attention, but I just closed my eyes in frustration.
"Yeah." This very moment, I just want to go back to sleep.
"Maayos na lahat for later sabi ni Malc. How about the cak---"
"It's perfectly baked, Josh," I snapped but tried to stay calm. "I'll be readying for school now. Bye."
"Bab----" and I ended the call. I immediately did my stuff and went down for breakfast.

Pagbaba na pagbaba ko, pinansin na agad nila daddy at nung kambal yung mood ko. Hindi ko na lang din sila sinagot at nagconcentrate na lang sa pagkain.
"Kylie, ito na yung cake."
Napatingin ako kay yaya nang bitbit-bitbit niya papuntang table yung cake na nakabox na. I just rolled my eyes, "Pababa na lang dyan sa table, Ya."
"Uy, cake!" Kyser said with amazement. "Pahingi naman."
"Oo nga, achi," dagdag pa nung isa.
"No," matigas na sabi ko at kumain na lang ulit.
"Aww," sabay pang react nitong kambal. Tss.
"Ehem," pasimpleng ubo ni dad, "did you bake that, Kylie?"
"Yes, dad."
"Isn't she sweet?" mom smiled. "Binake niya yan for her best friend, Jesse."
Dad nodded.
