Chapter 7: Training

-----☆-----

Kylie's POV

"Magkakatune up game kami for practice na din upcoming league this month," sabi ni Josh sakin pagkalabas na pagkalabas niya ng faculty ng coaches. Agad din kaming dumeretcho ng canteen kung nasaan yung iba.

"Will it be here or outside Clifford?" I asked.

He shrugged, "Hindi pa daw sigurado kung saan."

I clinged my arms to him, "I hope here para homecourt."

He nodded and tried to smile.

Nang nakarating kami sa canteen, he immediately told our friends about Blue Mighty Phoenix's tune up game.

"Geez, our squad must be ready," Jess said feeling really excited about it. "Kahit naman tune up game lang yun, kelangan okay yung cheer namin."

We all agreed.

"Teka, dito ba sa Clifford yan gagawin?" tanong din ni Malc, like what I asked earlier. "Para maready ko din yung council for your team's food and water. Hindi kasi namin nasama sa meeting tungkol sa tune ups. Puro about sa actual games niyo lang dito nasali namin sa budget."

Toffie and I looked at each other. Everytime kasi na basketball yung topic, everybody gets giddy about it, basketball boys man or basketball girls.

Well for us players of the other sports, we find it unfair sometimes. We don't get enough recognition for representing the school. Hmm, fine. We get enough credits from the school and same perks but from the other students of the school, naaaah. Everytime our basketball team had their game, especially here in school, super puno agad ng gym but for us, like tennis team, swimming or even my team, it's really rare we get enough crowd to cheer for us.

But yeah, it's fine. Really. We get used to it na din, actually. And too much attention is really, really, really not my thing. That was one of the reasons why I didn't choose basketball as my main sport though of course, I really love badminton. But yes, enough na for me that my friends are there to support me.

"Hindi pa din alam ni coach kung dito ba eh," sagot ni Joshy sa question ni Malc

He frowned, "Sana dito na para makapanood din kami."

I hope too.

"But wait," Jess got our attention, "when exactly is this game, Josh?"

"Ngayon friday na. After ng school."

Uh-oh... I have training this friday. How am I--

"Ahh, sige. Basta balitaan mo kami kung dito ba yung laro o hindi para mahanda ko mga kailangan namin sa council," Malc said and Josh just nodded.

Ugh, I can't watch his first game this year? I mean, kahit tune up lang yun. Still...

I was looking at Josh to search for his gaze but he's not looking at me. He looks so bothered and I really don't know why. Hindi ko nga nahalata yung face niyang ganyan kanina eh.

I tried my best to reach for his hand. And when I was able to, I squeezed it just enough for him to know that I'm here. And there, he just gave me a weak smile.

Ugh, I hate it when I don't understand or can't even read you, Josh.
