I find it ironic as the boy who tried to commit suicide 4 times died in a car accident just as he found happiness.

Nick was never happy but the day before he died he told me he was. Atleast I have some closure, something that made me happy in a way  even though it's selfish. I'm glad that he was happy and he spent his last few hours on earth with a semi-smile on his face.

The story started when my mom went out with some old friends she knew from school. I was happy for her to go because she was lonely since my dad moved out she just sat at home with me everyday and watched tv series with me. Even though she left me with my grandmother for 5 hours to do absolutely nothing, I was happy for her. I wanted her to be happy. When she got back I was so tired and drained by the time she picked me up, so when she blabbered on about people and their children and jobs, I really didn't care.

After about two weeks on the drive home from school, she got a phone call on her hideous white blackberry that buzzed every now and then. For about 20 minutes she spoke to some womem, I knew it was a women as she spoke so loudly I could hear her a few feet away. the parts I heard were mainly, "How are you?" and "What are you doing this weekend?" as soon as I heard that I knew that I would be dragged out of my tiny room and to a dinner with a bunch of old people.

The rest of the conversation was muffled as I wasn't really listening and I suppose the reception was bad.

As soon as we drove into our street, I woke up from my little daze and started to think about what I had to do as soon as we waked through the door.

Later that night my mom spent what seemed like years making some chicken stew and vegetables. My mom was a great cook, but she hardly ever did cook. "Farrar? Farrar?"

"Yes mom" I replied blandly. I must've been day dreaming. Like usual.

"My friend Sharron Brethwell, you know the lady I met about 2 weeks ago that I told you about?"

"Yes mom"

"Well she phoned today and asked if we would like to go for dinner on friday?"

"Okay"

"Well do you want to go?"

"I don't mind"

"You could show some interest, you know? You just walk around looking at the floor and feel sorry for yourself! You know that other people wh-"

"Yes mom I know, I know I need to be grateful for what I've got mom. I know"

"Well if you know why don't you do it!"

She went on like that for a while but I just walked away as I've heard it all before. Everything just went quite and I loved it. It was so peaceful so I decided to lie in my bed and read. When my mom is mad, she just ignores me till the next day. I just get the cold shoulder. I knew even though I never said yes to my moms dinner proposal with the Brethwell's I would be going regardless. Little did I know that it was the best thing I ever did.
