The Brethwell's lived in a complex. I really nice one, in fact I think I remember passing a boom on the way here which means it's also secure. There were street lights the whole way and there were white picket fences around all the houses. It gave the complex the whole 'My family is perfect and I cook well and my son plays soccer'. My house had brick walls around it and one big gate that opened into the garages, practically the exact opposite of this complex.

"Shaun, Gen's running late but she'll be here in about 10 minutes," Sharon told her son.

"Okay" he replied and looked down, who I assume meant he was upset that 'Gen' was running late. I wondered who Gen was and I wanted to ask but I said nothing.

Nick must've noticed that I was a bit confused with his moms statement and answered my un-spoken question.

"Genevieve is Shaun's girlfriend if you were wondering" he said and smirked a bit.

If you've ever heard the saying " Weak in the knees" then I could tell you exactly what that felt like as that smirk made a fire ignite inside of me and I started to loose balance and swayed to my left. Yes, I just fell in front of this incredible attractive boy.

"Hey, you okay?" He said as he caught the bottom of my elbows.

"Y-Yeah"

I replied while looking at his star-lit hazel eyes. The light must have been shining in them because they had just a little hint of shimmer in them.

He lifted me up and put me back on my feet. We didn't loose eye contact once, and the adults must have noticed because when we broke the eye contact they were all looking at us with red cheeks. I looked away from them and noticed Shaun was on his phone.

A knock at the door broke the awkward feeling drifting in the air and Sharon immediately put her glass of red wine down and said,

"That must be Gen!" While looking at Shaun who had a smile on his face. Sharon passed Shaun the keys.

In the first 10 minutes of meeting Nicholas Brethwell I found out that he was extremely observant about everything cause he wouldn't stop looking at me. He looked like he was taking every feature and flaw of my face in. Every time I looked at him he would do that smile-bite my lip type of thing, and my word, was it beautiful. A door bang made me come back to reality and found Nicholas standing by the fridge across the room whispering to his mom, but I couldn't make it out.

Shaun walked back in the kitchen with a girl right behind him. She was really beautiful, she should be a model because she's tall too. She was holding his hand as they walked in together. She was wearing blue skinny jeans with just a normal plain red shirt and a white jacket over it. It wasn't fair, people like her are so lucky, they are blessed with beauty, and they don't even realize. They can't even see how lucky they are.

"Hi Gen! How are you?" Sharon got up from the chair and wrapped her arms around the extremely beautiful brunnette that was standing just feet away from me. She then turned an looked at me.

"Oh yes Gen, this is Farrar, she's Debbie's daughter," she stated while looking at me.

"She's beautiful" she whispered to Gen but loud enough so I could hear it. I guess she realized I needed some extra confidence.

"Hi I'm Genevieve DuPloy," she looked at me gesturing a hand shake. "Oh wait! I can't believe I just said my whole name, haha!" She laughed. She seemed so nice, so genuine. "You can just call me Gen" I looked at her and gave her a friendly smile

After another 10 minutes of people talking and Greg frying some stuff up in a pan, Gen looked at me and said,

"I'm happy I'm not the only girl here tonight" and walked towards me to share the wall I was leaning on.

I just replied with "Same here" and laughed.

I could feel that we both wanted to be open minded and start up a friendship and at the time I needed somebody besides my so called "friends".

I took a look at all the people in the room smiling and enjoying the little things they have. I got a warm feeling inside the pit of my stomach and I got a feeling that this handful of people in the kitchen are going to be a very big part of my life.

Of all the memories I remember of Nick, my favorite was on that night. When I looked across the kitchen to see this beautiful boy mailing while leaning upon the side of the fridge with a look on his face that I couldn't quite place. I don't know why this is my favorite memory. It's so simple and so plain, it's not even one of the moments we shared together but it will always and forever be my favorite.
