"I told you to get the six packet of corona and you couldn't even do that you came home empty-handed?!"

My father slurred as he walked closer to me.

"I'm seven years old I can't just waltz into a liquor store and ask for Corona."

"Don't talk back to me." He clasped his hand over my mouth and held it there trying to suffocate me.

My muffled screams couldn't be heard I tried everything from licking to biting but none of it worked.

"When I was seven I had much respect for my parents perhaps you need to learn some manners.

Suddenly the world went black.

And now thanks to him I forever have a phobia of fainting

Jasmine's POV

"I don't think I can do this M-Jasmine."

She winced at the fact that she almost called me mom.

"Don't worry I'll be beside you the whole time it will be fine."

"No I can do this," she extended her arm to where the memorial was starting to begin "I just can't do this." She pointed towards a woman and a man who look quite familiar the woman had dyed blonde hair her eyes were a light brown and she had very deep dimples. The man had chocolate skin and black curly hair with dark eyes they both looked so familiar..that's when it hit me.

"Are those your grandparents?" I asked her already knowing the answer

"Grandparents is kind of a stretch I prefer the term 'strangers that I'm sadly related to'."

"Angel that's rude."

"It may be rude but it's true." She scoffed

I wonder what she had against them that made her act this way

The lady glanced in our direction cocked her head to the side a bit and turned to her husband.

"We should start heading over to the memorial."

I grabbed her hand softly and she gripped on tightly like her life depended on it.

"Angel they can't do anything to you here there are people around." I pointed out.

"Yeah you're right they'll probably wait till I go use the washroom then they'll gang up on me in there."

"I promise I'll protect you they can't do anything to you while I'm here now let's head back before---"

"Angelica?"

Angel's POV

'Who the heck invited them here cause I'm going to kill that person.'

Today was supposed to be a perfect day I would go to the funeral then come back home and await my test results I was even going to crack open another Sudoku puzzle but the day changed when I heard that voice I knew that voice from anywhere.

"What did I tell you about calling me that Janet?" I slowly turned around to face her.

"It's your name is it not?" She raised an eyebrow

I could feel my face turning red with anger. She could always smart mouth me and I would have nothing to say back but this time I do have something I've always wanted to say.

"How dare you call me by that name you know only she is allowed to call me that and even though she is dead you will never be able to call me by that name ever you...you old hag!"
