(Years later, Thanksgiving break)

~ELLIANA'S POV

7:53

I'm sitting on the couch watching some toons, waiting for Peter to come back from the store. Which was just down the street, so it shouldn't take him long. He had mentioned that he wanted to go for a walk, I was on my period and getting cramps— I asked him to get me candy.

A couple minutes later, Uncle Ben walks through the door, Aunt May welcomes him and I greet him with a hug; we had grown close over the years.

In response he embraces me and says "Hey kiddo!"

He looks around, "Where's Peter?"

Not wanting to confess that I'm on my period, I just told him he went to get something from the store...but he had been gone for a while. Getting a little worried, Ben wanted to go search for Peter.

"I'll go with you." I start getting my shoes while Uncle Ben gets his jacket back on.

Before we close the door Aunt May yells to us "Be safe...and bring back some milk!"

8:04

Uncle Ben and I are walking down the street towards the store, when we hear someone yelling on the other side of the block. Suddenly, a man runs around the corner bumping into the women in front of us. He falls down and a gun slides out of his coat. Uncle Ben and I both look down at the gun, terrified. Quickly, Uncle Ben pushes me behind him as a shot rang out. The criminal runs away as I fall to the ground in tears. Not knowing who else to call for, I frantically yell Peter's name.

8:06

Uncle Ben holds my hand as he lies on the floor, his wound bleeding critically. Someone kneels next to me, and through my teary eyes I make out Peter's silhouette.

Uncle Ben puts his hand on Peter's face and painfully chokes out "It's okay kiddo, it's going to be okay."

Before he can do anything, Uncle Ben whispers one last time, "It's okay."

His hand goes limp in mine and falls from Peter's face. He starts to cry and not knowing what else to do, I pull peter into a hug and we both sob while people collect around us.

A week passes, it's time to say goodbye to Uncle Ben completely. As we're standing around the casket we are both crying, I put my head on Peter's shoulder. Before he can react, he flinches a bit. I look at him in confusion and he whispers that it was just a spider. He shakes his head as a tear drops down his cheek, he kisses my head lightly and brings it back to his shoulder. He examines the bite and I look up at him once more, but he runs his fingers through my hair reassuring me that he's okay. I couldn't watch the casket as it was lowered into the ground, instead I buried my face into Peter's arm. Apparently he couldn't watch either, so he lifted my head and we just stared at each other with teary eyes. We were only 15... why did this have to happen now? As I looked into his eyes, I saw how much pain this caused him. I didn't want him to feel this way anymore, I wish I could take it all from him, and if I could... I would in a heartbeat. Why? Because I like Peter Parker...

However after Uncle Ben's funeral, Peter started to be more distant. He didn't talk to me much, and it seemed like he didn't want to be near me either. He would leave suddenly and be gone for hours, and when he comes back he goes straight to his room without saying anything...barely a goodnight. When my mom comes to get me, Peter stays in his room and doesn't say goodbye anymore.

~the night before school~

I knocked on the door of Aunt May's apartment, and when she opened up I asked if I could speak to Peter. She let me in and lead me to his room, then she began to knock on his closed door.
