Connor was frozen for what seemed like forever, I felt like maybe I had broken him. His LED was a solid red and that was starting to scare me. "Connor?"I asked softly still maintaining my position in front of Markus just in case. Slowly he lowered the gun back down to his side, his face coming back with more life in it than before. I felt myself relax as he put his gun away giving me a sheepish ashamed look.

"I'm sorry, I didn't want to hurt anyone. I was just trying to accomplish my mission, but I see now that it wasn't the right mission."Connor explained looking down at the ground for a moment. "We need to get everyone out!"He exclaimed like he suddenly remembered something. "I called Hank they are going to have men out here any minute."He explained quickly.

"We have rigged the boat in case of an emergency but we need to get the word out that everyone needs to evacuate!"Markus replied urgently leaving the room, now just the two of us were left standing there.

I didn't know how to feel, he called in reinforcements which meant that he was planning on me being captured too or did he? I had finally felt like I had found happiness, but was it all a lie to further his mission? Did he suspect I knew where Jericho was? Did he use me initially to find this place? Every thought just brought up another question that I didn't have time to ask before it was open season in here. I felt Connor grab my hand hesitantly causing me to look up at him, the pain in his eyes told me all I needed to know.

"We have to get out of here, and we don't have any time to waste."Connor said softly rubbing his thumb along mine. Keeping a firm grip on my hand he started trying to lead us out, but we heard shouting coming from all directions. "Stay close to me."He yelled over the commotion. I couldn't leave his side even if I wanted to, the grasp he had on me would never allow it.

A pair of SWAT tactical officers swung around the corner their rifles now trained on us. I felt like my thirium pump had stopped completely at the sight before me. Connor's hand left mine as he swiftly disarmed one guard punching him roughly in the stomach, before using his knee against the officers head knocking him out cold. The other tried to fire narrowly missing, getting shot by the gun now in Connor's possession dropping to the ground.

Resuming his hold on my hand I felt fear consuming me for what might lie ahead but he kept on pushing through the throws of androids retreating in every which direction. Massive panic and hysteria was all that we were met with at every turn. Not a word was spoken between us, and maybe it was better that way for now. I didn't know if I wanted to hear what he was thinking, it would probably only further terrify me.

There were fights happening, guns firing, and android bodies hitting the ground around us. The thirium puddles that were staining the floors were becoming more and more frequent as we headed towards the surface. What exactly was the plan once we got out? Where were we going to even go? Cyberlife would now be on the hunt to retrieve their asset to dismantle him to find out why he failed. Nowhere was safe. I felt the chill of the night air as we once again were outside in the snowy weather.

I saw Simon and Markus with some others gathering by the edge of the ship, from the looks of it they were going to jump off and disappear into the dark water. Pointing it out to Connor I watched him nod and start heading towards them. Approaching they all acknowledged us before we took a leap into the depths below. The water rushed around us, disorientating me for a moment before I could tell which way was up. My hand was still in Connor's who was now breaching the surface pulling me up with him.

Swimming just under the water we managed to get away without a trace thankfully, I still couldn't seem to calm down though. "What are we going to do now?"I asked very glad that I wasn't a human susceptible to cold temperatures but too long in the water would start to affect our biocomponents.

"We will head to an old abandoned church I know about, it was where Jericho originally started before we needed a larger more covert place to hold many androids as our numbers grew."Simon explained helping Josh out of the water before Connor lifted me out onto solid ground, climbing up himself.

I looked to Connor seeing the look on his face, he was obviously lost in intense thought, which was troubling to say the least. Walking for about fifteen minutes we came upon an old boarded up church. It seemed other androids knew where to go already because they had beaten us there. There were small fires going and some were repairing themselves with what supplies could be grabbed before they abandoned ship. The numbers from before were seriously depleted and the situation seemed grim.

"I know what I need to do."Connor said turning to face me, his tone full of conviction. "I need to go to Cyberlife, and free all the androids they have in the place. We can't do anything with these numbers, I can make a difference. They will be expecting me back there after the raid, so no one will be suspecting that I am deviant.

"There was just a press conference by the President."Markus said walking over to us. "They are going to be putting all androids in camps to be destroyed. No android is safe anymore."He explained having a look of hurt on his face.

"This is my fault, I need to fix it. I am going to go to Cyberlife and release the androids in their current possession."Connor explained to Markus who shook his head.

"Connor, that's suicide."Markus said shaking his head at his suggestion.

"They trust me, they'll let me in. If anyone has a chance to infiltrate Cyberlife, it's me."Connor explained using his hands when he talked way more frequently now. The changes in him were becoming evident now that he was a deviant.

"If you go there, they will kill you."Markus said trying to reason with Connor but getting nowhere fast.

I couldn't speak, I was just filled with the inexplicable fear of losing him now. Markus was right, it was a suicide mission. He couldn't be expected to go alone, what if I never saw him again? It was the right thing to do, but was it worth the cost of losing the only person I ever cared about?

"There's a high probability but statistically speaking, there's always a chance for unlikely events to take place."Connor explained looking to me with a small smile. I tried to return it but the tears filling my eyes just wouldn't let me get away with it. "I promise you I will come back. You were right back there, I should be fighting for our freedom, for your freedom."He said turning to me pushing a piece of my hair out of my face. Markus smiled and touched Connor's shoulder showing care and deep respect.

"Be careful."Markus said seriously nodding to me, patting my shoulder with comfort before walking away back to the others giving us a moment to ourselves.

"I know you need to do this, but I'm scared. What happens if you don't come back, I wouldn't have even made it this far without you. I love you Connor, and I don't want to lose you."I said feeling the tears now falling from my eyes, I looked away for a moment. Feeling his hand under my chin he turned my face back to him so I was eye to eye with him.

"(Y/N), I love you too. I need you to trust me, believe in me. I have to do this, there is no other way for us to have a normal life without it. I swear I'm coming back to you, just promise me you will take care of yourself while I am gone? No going and getting yourself shot again trying to protect someone."Connor said making me chuckle a little. Leaning in he kissed my lips deeply, wrapping his arms around my waist so tight, I never wanted him to let go. Then just like that, he was gone and I was at a loss.
