Unmasked

Intro

Rampage ran through the city of Ninjago. People were afraid to leave their homes and afraid to even trust anyone they knew.

It all started after the death of Zane, the white ninja. No, he didn't die from this mysterious serial killer. He died from a previous battle with the overlord. He sacrificed himself for the good of the people. It was a sad time for the city. Everyone in mourning. Most of all. The ninja team.

Things only went down hill from there. Someone died. A simple hometown farmer. Found dead in his home. It was a murder and the first of many more gruesome ones to come. If only the people had known sooner that this case wouldn't be the last.

Kai walked around Ninjago. After the murder the people were on edge so each ninja would go out and take turns patrolling the streets. It made the public feel a little more safe about the situation that was going on.

Most of the time nothing eventful happened. It was kinda just a peaceful walk around town. Yet, this time. Nya hadn't come back.

Jay and Nya had been in a shaky relationship. They often had been fighting just because Jay was worried about Nya. The murder of the farmer and the death of Zane made him extra protective. He didn't want to lose the love of his life too. Nya didn't like how protective and clingy he was. It made her feel as though he didn't believe she could take care of herself. She was the water ninja for gosh sakes. She knew how to fight when the time had arrived.

This arose many fights. Every time Nya would watch the news to hear about anything they found on the murder; Jay would turn it off. Jay wouldn't sleep because of it and it only made things worse for their relationship.

"Stop! Stop caring for me and look out for yourself. It's just one thing that happened to a farmer miles away from here. Stop protecting me. I don't need to be protected!" She yelled at Jay.
He sighed feeling hurt at her words. He just wanted what was best for her.
"I'm not doing this to be paranoid or to make you feel weak and make me look strong. I'm doing it because I love you and don't want to lose you, like we lost Zane."
"Well Zane sacrificed himself! And if I so choose to do that, then you need to let me do so. It's my life!"
Jay frowned. "I know it's your life. I'm not trying to control it. I just love you.... okay?"
Nya rolled her eyes. "Stop. Just stop. I don't love you" She said in spite of the anger. She really did love him.

Nya saw the hurt in his eyes. She instantly regretted what she had said, but instead of apologizing. She pushed past him. "I-I... have patrol." She said running out and into the heart of Ninjago.

Kai looked at the clock. "She's supposed to be back so I can go!" He said worriedly pacing.
Jay sighed and sat on the couch with tear stained cheeks. "She's just mad at me...."
Kai sighed and rolled his eyes. "Another fight? Well I guess I should go find her then. She's probably just upset." Kai told him and ran off outside.

He was stopped by fans. He would take a quick picture and ask if they saw Nya. "I saw her by Chen's noodle house" one girl told him. Kai nodded and softly kissed her cheek for the help she gave and began walking toward the noodle shop assuming she was just hungry and upset.

"Nya!" He called out. He turned as he heard scufflings in the ally way. He looked. It was dark, but maybe it was his sister just hiding.

He slowly crept into the ally way. His footsteps echoed. Sounds of dripping water onto the pavement filled his ears. "Nya?" He called out kinda getting a bit nervous. "Kai...." a soft raspy voice called out. It was his sister he knew that voice. "Where are you?" He asked wandering deeper into the dark cavern called an ally. "L-look down..." she coughed. Kai ran into something and gasped looking down. It was Nya.

She was in awful shape. Multiple stab wounds were found at her chest. Blood spatter across her face and her body. The blood oozed out like an erupting volcano. It was only then he realized that the dripping water wasn't water. It was his sisters blood. " Nya....no. No. No. No." He said as he began to cry. He put pressure on as many of the stab wounds as he could in hopes of stopping the bleeding. "Stay with me..." he paused cradling her head.

Nya coughed up blood looking up at her brother. Her life was draining. She could feel it happening. "K-Kai...." She said quietly. Kai sobbed growing angry at whoever had done this.
Her eyes began to close. "T-the world is f-f-full of monsters brother...." she said weakly. "T-tell Jay I love him." She smiled softly placing a bloodied hand on his cheek. "And... I-I love you..."

Kai stroked her tear and blood stained face. His eyes met hers, he tried his hardest to remember them, because he knew after today he would never see her again. "I love you too Nya...... rest well...." he said crying.

Nya took a gasp of air before her eyes rolled to the back of her skull. She fell limp in Kai's arms as her blood continued to run.

Kai softly dropped her. "No... no!" He screamed in agony. "How could this happen to her... why didn't I hurry faster? This is my fault...." he sobbed.

He heard sirens come closer. He knew someone had called the police, but he didn't know who. No one was around. So how could they know?

He brushed it off. All he cared about was finding his sisters killer. Her death wouldn't be in vain.

He was coming for the killer. No matter the costs, he would find this person.

For Nya.

And so is the first chapter of this book! It was so sad, but made me so excited to write more! I hope you guys thought this was interesting and different!
