Skyefalls destiny

Chapter four "Ink"

  I drop the motel keys on the counter. Lily looks up and glares at me.
  "Are you coming or what?" Katana snaps.
"Uh- Well yes. I need a moment with skyefall" Lily begs. I shift katana and fritz out the door and turn back to Lily.
  "Will you help me pack my stuff?" She asks.
"Why not." I jump over the counter and look down at her.
  "It's just some clothes- and a picture of- Well that's not relevant." Lily looks at the photo, and snagged it into her pocket. She finishes gathering her clothes, and we head out the door.
  "What about your motel?" Fritz questions.
"It'll be fine, someone else will be there to keep it alive" Lily explains.
  "Why are you so willing to follow a group of strangers, to a unfamiliar town?" Katana stops and cuts Lily from the path.
  "Uh- no reason, it's just- boring here..." Lily looked down at her map to avoid eye contact.
  "The exit is this way" She Points to the left.
The four of us stand shoulder to shoulder by the path. It leads into the forest, I look down at Katana, then fritz at my right side. Fritz is the first to enter the forest, her wings dragging on the floor. I touch my wings from behind me, Man I wish they still worked.
  "Come on, cowards!" Fritz shouts from the trail. Katana looks up at me, And I look back at her. We enter the forest at the same time, and catch up to fritz. I look back at Lily. She seems conflicted on if she wants to come. She unfolds a sheet of paper, and holds it close to her. She then looks back up at everyone else and begins to walk.

"Do you think Candace is okay?" I look down at Katana.
  "I told you before, she's probably fine!" She spat at the floor.
"'probably' doesn't help your argument" I snarl down at her.
  "Everyone- hush." Fritz looks back at us, Lily by her side. "Somethings rustling in the bushes."

  Me and Katana tiptoe our way to Lily and fritz. Fritz then points to her left, the bush is rustling with short snarls sounding from it.
Lily slowly slips from the group, silently walking down the path once more.
  "Lily, no!" I whisper, hoping she'll hear.
Fritz then covers my mouth and shifts my face towards the bush. Drops of ink splatter onto the rocky path from a leaf. The rustling stops, and fritz shifts her hand at Lily.
  "We should be okay now." Fritz explains.
Lily comes running from the trail ahead. When she arrives, panting, she explains "There's a ink monster up ahead, it didn't see me- but I sure saw it."
  "How big was it?" Katana asks.
"8 feet."
"We can cut away from it through the trees" fritz suggests.
  "Let's go, then." Katana pushes her way through fritz and Lily.

  As we're walking, a familiar scream sounds from the trail, where they once were.
  "Did you all hear that..?" Katana stops.
"A scream." Fritz stops.
  "And it was near" Lily gulps.
I turn back to where the screams were coming from, Katana and fritz were telling me to stay with them, but I didn't listen. Lily though- she followed me. Me and Lily crawled through the bushes and saw a woman, laying helplessly in the ground. There was ink surrounding her, forming a cocoon around her. I shortly realize, That it's Candace! I run from the bush to her, and start slashing at the ink, my hands- they're stuck. I feel hands wrap around my waist, it's Lily. Attempting to pull me from the ink. I turn back at Lily.
  "Get the others." I whisper. Lily turns and runs into the forest, returning with Katana and fritz. Katana begins to pull at me. Attempting to pull me from the ink.
  "Back away." Fritz demands. Katana backs away, and fritz' eyes turn navy blue. She holds her hands out, and they begin I glow. The ink, begins to get hot. She's melting the ink off of us! The ink continues to boil, but fritz claps. That clap turned the ink to black ice. She clutches her hand into a fist, and the ice shatters. Candace begins to cough, and I fall onto her, hugging her.
  "I'm never letting go of you, never!" I begin to sob.
  "That's sweet, But. Your choking me!" She laughs. I let go, and help her off the ground. I point to Lily.
  "This is my new friend, Lily." I explain.
"I see.." Candace stares at Lily, she looks down at her map and points up at a fork in the path l. 
  "There's a place where we can set up camp here." Everyone follows Lily, as she leads us to a wide field. We all begin to set up camp, and talk.
  "Where were you, Candace?" I murmur.
"Brackia, I slept at a lovely woman's house. She fed me, and kept me warm." She smiles, just thinking about the lady.
  "We stayed at a motel- that Lily worked at. It's how we met her" Fritz explains.
  "We have three tents." Katana shouts to us.
"I'll sleep with Katana, in her tent." Fritz smiles.
  "I'll stay with Candace!" I look over at Candace.
  "I'll sleep alone, then" Lily walks into her tent, same with fritz and katana. We all fall asleep shortly after.
