The next morning I woke up to hella missed calls and texts from Yuri. He was straight bugging, and I didn't want to deal with it. I rolled over and looked at the clock which read 3:30 p.m. I hopped out of bed and did my daily hygiene routine. I stayed at Elle's apartment until she finally went to bed. We were up all night watching funny movies and scarfing down a tub of cookie dough ice cream. Elle cried here and there, but she's a hard body so it was hard to keep her down.
I picked up my phone about to call Yuri back, but his face popped up on my screen, "Hello."
"What the fuck were ya'll thinking Erykah!" Yuri barked. I pulled the phone away from my ear and looked at it like is was a snake.
"First of all, lower your damn voice Yuri, " I spat. It was Sunday and I was grateful that my roommate was gone for the weekend. She would have been so annoyed with Yuri and I's constant bickering.
"Don't tell me to lower shit. I'm trying to figure out why you ditch me to go run up on Sahif with Elle?" He questioned.
"Elle thought Sahif was cheatin, " I said.
"And so ya'll run up on him? Why not just ask him or do regular girly detective shit like lurk?" I could tell in his voice he was irritated, but just because he's my man doesn't mean he can control me.
"Whatever, you're my man but stop with all the yelling, what you doing today?" I asked.
I heard shuffling on the other end, I took that time to get some of my things together, "Well I was gone pick you up and treat you, but you've been bad as hell out here."
"I ain't been bad to you though," I said. I could hear him chuckle in the phone.
"Well get ready, you know daddy gotta spoil you," he said lowly. I sat down, squeezing my legs together at his deep, husky, baritone voice. "Get your freaky ass dressed girl." With that the phone hung up. I shot up and grabbed all of my toiletries so I could use the shower. I guess the princess was gonna be spoiled today.
"I think you better call Sahhhhiiiiifffffff," I sang loudly in the passenger seat. Yuri picked me up and as soon as I got in I grabbed the auxiliary cord. I'm remixing Erykah Badu's infamous banger "Tyrone" while Yuri drove us to Greendale Mall.
"Please be quiet," he mumbled.
"What was that!" I yelled. " I'm getting tired of yo shit! You don't ever buy me nothing." Yuri immediately turned off my music and let the radio play.
"Girl sit your ass down before I have to pull over and spank you," He said lowly.
I rolled my eyes, slightly turned on by his demands. His hands sneakily made it to my thigh, he gently massaged it. I looked over at him, admiring his attire and the way it fit. He rocked a crispy white Ralph Lauren Polo shirt, and some nice jeans with some butter timbs. "You know what you're doing." I teased. He cracked a small smile, turning his head to look out his window. The rest of the car ride was silent, but we eventually made it.
Ten stores and five grand later, we were sitting in the food court devouring our plates. Yuri wanted subway while I opted for chinese. "Yuri!" I whipped my head in the direction of the voice and saw a tall slim light-skinned woman, with long hair. She sported some small shorts with a crop top that read "A real bitch". I looked at Yuri with my eyebrow raised.
The woman finally made it to the table, "Yuri I know you heard me," she said. Her eyes were stuck on Yuri who looked up at her with a smirk. "So why you been ignoring my phone calls babe?"
My ears perked up at the word babe, but I was definitely listening. "Chill Nya, you see I'm with my lady."
The girl looked at me and smiled, " Hi my name is Nya and I'm the woman your man was fucking on when you stood him up last night." How did she even know all that? I was appalled at how easy that ran off her tongue. I was heated, but more with Yuri. There were so many emotions running through my head but I refused to act up in this mall.
"Really Nya?" Yuri asked.
The girl turned and looked at me, " No offense, but I promise he never mentioned a woman. When you call he swears you're his little sister. I know because your face pops up on the screen." I could feel the tears threatening to fall, but never would I give them the chance. Yuri kept his gaze on her. Anything to not look me in the eyes. I stood up from my seat, grabbing my food and bags heading towards the door.
"Erry! Hold up!" I heard Yuri yell. I kept walking as the tears rolled down my cheeks. I could feel the stickiness from the staining. He finally caught up to me and we were both silent for a great amount of time.
We made it to the car and Yuri took my bags putting them in the trunk. He slid into the drivers side and pulled off. The comfortable silence was gone, and the awkward silence was now sitting in the backseat.
"Erykah look, I'm sorry. I thought you was out cheating and shit. You was suppose to come back but you didn't," he said.
I kept looking out the window watching the scenery whisk by, " Bruh I don't wanna hear that shit."
"I'm trying Erry," he said.
"Damn we haven't even been together a good month and you're already cheating. Typical Yuri," I said. I pulled out my phone and texted Elle to update her on what happened.
"She meant nothing to me though Erykah," he spoke.
I looked over at him and chuckled, "Damn so now you think I'm dumb, that was so cliche'. It's really fuck you now." I focused on texting Elle back because this man really had me messed up.I was ready to get home with my bags and get in the bed. I wanted to cry and sleep today away because tomorrow this situation will not be giving me the blues. I closed my eyes and let the music on the radio calm me.
