A week later, we meet at our free time but the only thing we ever really get to do together was do a partner novel we were assigned to. We'd obtain some points and hints from some books we were hooked up to. I basically wrote while he gave me his ideas. And this scene seem to be very notalgic, for me. It feels as though I did this before, but I'm just not so sure when and with who.
When its dismissal time, we'd meet up at the school library. Open up both our notes and borrowed some books from the library. Placing it on our table and read. If one of us has an idea, we'd discuss it and when we both agree, I'd turn it into a part of the novel. Once we finished our first chapter, we called it a day and headed home.
At times like these, I'd just walk home alone. Whenever Walter would tell me that he'll drop me home, I give him a lot of reasons: "I have to run some errands.", "I'll be going to pick up some stuff my mom told me to get before I head home.", "I'll be meeting up with my sister somewhere 'cause she has a group project with some friends.", and so on. Countless reasons just so he wouldn't drop me home.
And so, he'd tell me to take care and go straight home. And I did.
A stressful Sunday made its way before lunch. A lot of homeworks and projects to be done and submitted the next day. I decided to finish a new chapter today, and so I sent a text.
Meet you in the canteen. Lets finish the next chapter within this week. Hurry up!!!
I almost forgot about the notebook and why my mom was so mad at him, but once I get the time to ask him about it, I will. I went to the canteen to eat and saw him. I waved "Hi!" and he waved back. I tap the empty seat beside me and ask him, "Want to join me? And complete the novel as we eat our snack?"
"Sure" was all he said.
While in the canteen eating our snack, we chatted about what to do in the novel. But our conversation was falling out of place, so I decided to ask him, "what had happened the other week and what did my mother tell you?"
He sat beside me in an uncomfortable silence. Suddenly, he stood up from his place. "I-I got to go somewhere," and left the canteen.
But for some reasons, my instincts was telling me to follow him because he knows something but doesn't want to say so. I wanted to follow him, but I didn't. I have a feeling that he doesn't want to talk about it. But I surely want to know what's happening around me. I'm becoming more curious every single day that passes, since I'm involve in this whole situation; I have to know what's going on, and all I did was let him leave the canteen.
What was I thinking!?
But I need to know the truth, and if my parents don't want to tell me, then I know someone else who knows the truth.
Walter.
I grabbed my things and run to him as soon as he turned the corner away from the canteen. I followed him out of the canteen, through the halls, until I managed to catch up with him. Pulling him from the shoulder.
"Wait!" I said, turning him around.
"My parents have been hiding things from me lately, and I don't want one of my friends hiding from me, too. I need to know the truth, even though everyone thinks that I don't need to know what's happening. It's part of my life as well, and I'll have to face it soon or later. So PLEASE, tell me, what's happening?"
There'll be no turning back now. I never thought those words would make their way out of me. I really needed answers to all the questions in my head. But he turned and marched away from me.
"Walter!" I called out, grabbing his wrist. He stopped walking, but he didn't look back. "Please..." I pleaded. He hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and continued....
"Lets...take a walk..." He said in a low voice, before continuing forward.
