Chapter 8: A Run In With A Very Rude Girl

I stared blankly at the math test in front of me. The teacher had decided to spring a pop quiz on us to make sure we understood the material thoroughly. Picking up my pencil, I began to write in the answers. Math was one of the few subjects in school that came easily to me; science was one of the ones that I failed miserably at.

Placing my pencil firmly back onto my desk, I gathered the test in my arms and marched up to the teacher's desk. His eyebrows rose in surprise as I passed my test to him, but he didn't say anything. As I sat back down in my seat, I heard somebody clear their throat.

"And that's what you call an over achiever." Turning my head towards the source of the voice, I saw a girl smirking at me through slit eyes. I arched an eyebrow at her and just chuckled, turning away from her.

"And that's what you call an attention whore." I shot back at her. People looked at me with approval and some even gave me a thumbs up.

She huffed out loud behind me in exasperation and I felt myself rolling my eyes. I sat in the silent classroom watching as people handed their tests in one at a time. The bell finally rang after 45 agonizing minutes and I gathered my stuff, shoving it into my bag.

Before I could walk down the hallway to an awaiting Trish, a hand around my arm pulled me back. I narrowed my eyes as the girl from early stood with two other girls on each side of her. She had her hip cocked to the side acting as though she almost owned the place.

"It looks like your hip is about to break." I pointed at her arched hip. She hissed out at me and I could see the anger filling her eyes. I put my hands up in defense, "just letting you know."

She snapped her fingers in my face causing a spark of annoyance to boil in my chest. "Look here, new girl. Stay away from my man. He's mine and you better get that through your thick head."

"Your man?" I asked incredulously; I had no idea what in the world this girl was talking about. Talk about a whack job!

"Yeah. My man is Chase. So you best back up, hoe." She made a motion with her hands for me to leave but I just stood firmly in my spot.

"Yeah, no. Chase is the one pursuing me. Obviously your man does not like you the way you like him. Plus, he doesn't go after girls that alter themselves just to live up to society's expectation on how they should portray themselves." I smiled at her politely while she looked at me as though she wanted to rip my eyes out. Turning on my heel, I left her standing in the hallway towards an awaiting Trish.

Trish grabbed me by the arm, looking up at me with wide eyes. "Do you realize what you just did?" I shook my head as no. "That was Kayla. She is the school's number one bitch. You just got on her radar."

I laughed at her reaction. "That girl? She was a complete titty baby!" I slapped my knee as I howled in laughter. Watching me, Trish shook her head and turned on her heel leaving me laughing. I caught up to her easily and then we went our separate ways for the next class.

Once after school came and I bid farewell to Trish, I was going to leave the building to go to my truck when arms clamped on my own and began to drag me backwards. I struggled against their grasp and they wrapped both of their arms around mine preventing me from struggling majorly.

Without another word they dumped me onto the cool tile floor of the bathroom. Getting up, I dusted off of my knees just as someone cleared their throat. Turning to where the mirrors stood, I watched as Kayla pushed herself off of the wall and stalked towards me.
