Chapter 10: Sometimes It Amazes Me At How Stupid I Am

After I shared my life story with Trish, she proceeded to tell me about hers. I found out that she was an only child, but her parents were divorced. Currently, she lived with her mom, but her dad sometimes came around begging for her mom to take him back now that she was wealthy. Trish said that she never really got the true dad feeling from her own father so when they divorced she didn't really cry about it.

I also learned that she had one cat named Lucy, and two dogs named Bumper and Donald. Before moving here, she lived in the infamous New York City and sometimes she felt like she just wanted to drop everything here and go back. I didn't blame her of course; we only had small town drama here and it got annoying after a while.

Leading me inside of her house, Trish and I made our way upstairs after raiding her pantry of the junk food. Collapsing onto her bed with a dull thunk, I rolled over onto my side munching on a candy bar as she put on a movie.

"How in the hell did you know that I like 27 Dresses?" I gaped at her in horror as the opening title appeared on the screen. She reached out and pressed play while grinning at me.

"You know Leah, you seem like you're secretly a hopeless romantic." I quickly began to deny it but she shook her hand dismissively at me as the movie began to play. Plopping down beside me, she grinned mischievously at me.

"So what exactly are you and your ex bully? You know, it's obvious that you two have a thing for each other." She laughed as a blush creeped onto my face. "I mean come on, Leah! You have a thing for your ex bully! That is so...so kinky!" She belted out in laughter and I glared at her, turning my attention to the t.v.

I bit my lip nervously as I thought about her question. I mean sure I might have some possible feelings for Chase, but did he even feel the same way? Even though he kissed me it could mean anything.

Dread settled in my stomach as a possibility popped into my head. Grimacing I faced Trish taking another bite from the candy bar. "Trish... What if he's just doing this to ruin my life a second time?"

The t.v. silenced from Trish pressing pause. She pursed her lips in a tight line as she gave it some consideration. "If he was then what's wrong with that?" I gaped at her in shock at her reply.

Shrugging she opened a bag of chips. "Think of it as this; if he is then you will walk away from this as a better person. I doubt you'll let him even get away with hurting you a second time. Sure you'll have a broken heart, but then again we're teenagers. We're expected to fall in love easily and live life without a care in the world. The last that Chase would expect is for you to hold your head up higher and walked in a straight line." She smiled at me reassuringly.

"If that is his intention, then that guy is a damn idiot. If I was lesbian, I'd totally go after you." Laughing she threw a chip at me as I glowered back at her.

After our talk, we sat on her bed ogling at James Marsden as he grinned a boyish grin once in a while. Once the movie finished, I gathered up the garbage with her and threw it away in the bin that sat next to her desk.

Trish walked me to the door humming softly. I told her that I was planning on talking to Chase and I wasn't sure where we were going to stand after this talk, or argument depending on how it went. She hugged me goodbye wishing me luck.

As I made my way to my parked truck, I pulled out my cellphone texting Chase to meet me in the parking lot by the park. His reply came shortly and he said that he was on his way. My stomach churned with uneasiness as I set off for my destination.

Chase's black Mustang sat in the furthest parking lot spot from the entrance. He leaned up against the passenger door looking at the trees that decorated the park. I parked my truck two spots away from his and motioned him for him to get inside. Chase's eyebrows rose in surprise, but he didn't argue as he hopped into the cab.
