Chapter 14: I'm A Classic Basic Bitch

Shoving Tom away from me, I felt my anger give way as Trish grasped my arm in an attempt to keep me from ripping his head off. The people who were standing near us began to look over in curiousity. Tom threw his head back howling in laughter.

"I see your bitch had to step in!" He continued laughing. I yanked my arm out of Trish's hold and then tackled Tom to the ground.

Before I could stop myself, my arm flew back and slammed into Tom's shocked face. "Fuck you!" I felt his arms trying to move, but I had them pinned beneath my knees. I began slamming my fist into his face repeatedly without easing up. In the background I could faintly hear Trish screaming for what sounded like Chase.

The teachers where nowhere to be seen which confused me. Shrugging off my momentary confusion, I felt Tom's legs trying to move, but he was utterly helpless beneath me. His nose began to bleed from another punch that I threw along with a cut lip. All of the anger and hurt that I had felt from everything was being released onto him.

As I was about to hit him in the eye, a pair of arms wrapped around my waist pulling me off of him. I struggled beneath the person's strong grip around me. Once I realized that I wasn't getting away from them, I started screaming at Tom's bloody face while people helped him up.

"You fucking bastard! Fuck you! Don't call my friend my bitch you motherfucker!" The profanities continued spilling out my mouth even as I was forcefully turned away from Tom. I saw Trish's shocked face out of the corner of my eye as I was escorted towards a deserted area behind the food stalls.

"Leah, you can seriously throw a punch." I heard Chase's laughter behind me and froze up as he unwound his arms from me. Instead of giving me some space, he stayed right behind me. I remained where I was, staring at the wall in front of me.

"Please tell me I'm not next. I can't go out onto the field with a bloody face." I sighed as I felt my anger leaving me. Turning around, I met his gaze and cleared my throat awkwardly. He raised his eyebrows at me as he glanced at my semi-bloody knuckles. They are definitely going to bruise.

I turned to walk around him, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back until I was standing in front of him. Taking a deep breath, I leveled my gaze with his. "What do you want, Chase?"

"I want to apologize. I'm really sorry that I ever made that bet. When you came back to school here, I thought that I was going to hate you like I did before. But as I got to know you, I found the more I liked you. I regret being a dick to you like I was in the past. I'm sorry, Leah." His eyes shown the hurt that he was going through.

For the first time, I leaned away from him a little and really looked at him. Chase's once bright, blue eyes were now dull and had large bags under them. The haircut looked really complimenting on him, but his skin looked unhealthy.

"Chase, I need you to know that I did like you. But when I found out that I was just another conquest for you, my heart broke." He grimaced, but nodded. "I want us to be friends. I don't think I can deal with another heart break." I smiled up at him.

"I understand that. I'm just really happy that we're at least friends." Chase's face broke out into a grin and he looked as though he had just won the lottery. "I really want to hug you right now, but I'm pretty sure that's a no go."

"You think?" I snorted sarcastically at him.

"Well, I have to get back in the lockeroom. Half time's almost over. I have a game to win." Grinning at me, he patted my shoulder before jogging away from me and towards the lockerooms. I felt myself smiling like an idiot as I watched his retreating figure.

Turning on my heel, I began to make my way towards an awaiting Trish who had a sly grin on her face. I bumped shoulders with her casually once I caught up with her.

"Thanks for sticking up for me." Trish said while looping her arm through mine.

"Hey, I gotta stick up for my bitch." I joked laughing as she swatted my shoulder playfully.

I felt people staring at me. I don't blame them. Getting into a fight with the opposite gender and beating them up to a pulp wasn't something you see everyday.  To be honest, I didn't feel good beating up a guy, but he deserved it. The rumors will have spread like wildfire by the time school resumes on Monday. I just hope that no teachers find out about this or else I could get in some serious trouble.

Instead of going back to the bleachers where seats were scarce, we settled for leaning against the rail of the ramp that led up to the bleachers to watch the rest of the game. The game progressed quickly and soon enough a bell sounded out loud as a one of our teammates scored the winning touchdown.

The crowd erupted in screams of victory as the football player was mauled by his teammates for his winning score. I found myself grinning as two players grabbed the large Gatorade container and pour the remaining contents of it over the coach's head.

Tom never showed up to play the second half of the game. I saw him in the parking lot as Trish and I made our way to our cars. He was glaring daggers at me, but when I made a move to go after him, he practically wet himself.

"Wow, you are such a bully." Trish shook her head as she watched Tom freak out in terror.

I laughed and then unlocked my truck door. Despite getting in a fight, I felt oddly happy with how the night had gone. I had made amends with Chase, I finally felt better after the falling out with my parents and I had finally gotten my revenge on Tom. He should've known that karma's a bitch.
