*GASP*
I rose up from my pillow and sat bolt upright. I could feel beads of sweat rolling down the sides of my head and down my back. I was gasping for air, almost hyperventilating. It was the same nightmare again. Dizzly I stood up and began frantically searching for a pen and paper. I had to write it all down before I would forget.
I began unpacking yesterday, so my room was full of of stuff that I kept stepping on, making me feel even more frustrated.
The memory began to fade.
It was fading even quicker.
I was knocking everything onto the floor, I was rustling through every box I could find until I finally found a pen and my notepad. By the time I turned on the light, and flipped over to an empty page in the notebook to start writing… the memory of the nightmare was already gone. I threw the pen back onto the table.
I decided to go back to bed, when I checked my phone it was 6:00 AM and the whole dorm was still quiet.
One thing I could still remember about the nightmare was what it was about. It was about me and what happened between me and my ex-boyfriend: Hiroto. Despite not remembering the nightmare, it brought back all the pain from the last couple of years. When you spend the last couple of years mostly alone, it gives you a lot of time to think. That's what I did.
When you think about something so often, you can not trust those memories anymore. Your own mind makes everything that happened 10 times worse. That's why I was holding on to the childish belief that, maybe, my dreams could have the answer behind it all.
What did I do wrong?
I stared at the white ceiling for what felt like hours. Then I finally gave up. I pressed my face against my pillow… and cried.
<SHORT TIME SKIP>
<XIUMIN POV>
I suddenly woke up. I was a light sleeper after all, so this really was nothing new. But I was so sure that I heard something…
I rubbed my eyes and listened. I was definitely hearing something. I rose from my bed and pressed my ear against one of the walls. At first, I could hear nothing else except my own heartbeat. But once I concentrated I heard it. It sounded like...crying. I grew increasingly concerned.
Jangmi´s room is behind that wall.
I quickly ran up to Baekhyun's bed and shook his shoulder.
‘’Baekhyun! Baekhyun! Hey! Wake up!‘’ I whispered.
After shaking him a few more times he finally opened up his eyes, still half asleep of course.
‘’W-what? M-mom why... are youuu waking me up thhiss e-early… its sunday...‘’
‘’Mom? Nevermind. Baekhyun its me! Xiumin!‘’ Baekhyun seemed to finally understand what was happening.
‘’What? What's wrong? He asked.
‘’I think I hear crying coming from Jangmi’s room!‘’
Baekhyun lift his head off his pillow to listen, only for a split second before closing his eyes again.
‘’I can't hear anything, you probably just imagined it. ‘’
‘’N-no I swear I heard-‘’ I was cut off by Chen who woke up because of all the noise I was making. He always had a bit of a habit of being grumpy when somebody would wake him up.
‘’What the heck are you guys doing?! Go to sleep!‘’ Chen said in an annoyed tone.
‘’B-but the crying-‘’
