I woke up early after I had crashed, my head start to pound really hard making me unable to t

hink about anything I went downstairs to see if anyone else was up when I found a note,

Kids, your father, Tom and I had to catch an emergency flight back to Australia because of a sick relative. I will call you guys when we reach there, please take care of the house while we are gone and remember NO FUNNY BUSINESS and NO FIGHTING. Cody, you have to be at the studio at 2:00 and the car keys are in the kitchen, Alli you have a photo shoot at 3:30 which Sam can drop you off to, and Sam happy 17th birthday sweetheart! We will call later on tonight to speak to you in person but hope you have a great day. There are boxes of food that you can make while we are away. Love you all very much Mum and Dad.

Today’s my birthday? I looked at my phone and saw the date March 5th, how does one person forget the day of their own birth? I smiled to myself as I picked up the note and placed it on the coffee table so Alli could see it when she came downstairs; I went upstairs and freshened up for the bright day ahead of me. I thought about if anyone would remember my birthday as I washed my hair, then it hit me what if my parents don’t call me? They probably hate me forever I laughed and got out of the shower. I let my wet hair out as I got into an ivory black sleeveless peplum; I put on my normal make up of just eyeliner as I made my way downstairs. I started cooking a box of macaroni and cheese just to make it up to Alli from last night as I was cooking I heard my phone ring loudly in the Alli’s room so I raced up stairs so no one would wake up, I picked it up to hear a familiar voice but this was a voice I hadn’t heard for a while. “Hello.” I choked up a bit.

“Happy Birthday baby sister!” A sudden rush of joy entered my body.

“Kat!” I yelled back “I miss you so much! You don’t even visit me anymore since you went away to collage! Thank you for calling me!”

My sister Kat and I were very close together ever since we were little children, we were almost like Cody and Alli but when Kat went to collage we started to loose connection because she would never really come home, she rented an apartment by her school. Then we had to move to LA to get closer to family and that’s when we completely lost connection, Kat went through the same problem like I did but she never told Mom and Dad, Kat has a boyfriend who is American and they have been together since high school but Kat never told my parents because she knew things would go wrong.

“What are you doing today? Plus we need to catch up because you haven’t told me things like you dating that famous kid you like Cody Simpson. You gotta be kidding me? When I heard that from Mom and Dad I was like what the fuck you scored baby!” Kat screeched while I put my phone on speaker phone.

“Ha-ha we yeah I did date him for like 2 months, even went on tour with him, got emancipated just so I can be with him but then while we were in New York he cheated on me with this girl named Abby and now I am living in his house cooking macaroni for my best friend.”

“What!? You always said this kid was a gentleman, oh am I going to kick his ass when I meet him. Are you okay?”

“Well yes and no, while I was in New York I met up with a few friends and Chris remember him? Gave me alcohol which gave me alcohol poisoning, they thought I was going to die but I didn’t then Rahul tried to kiss me and then Cody I realized I am still in love with him and I care too much about him! What do I do?”

“Wait what!? Okay that’s it you need to come with me back home, all you’re doing is getting hurt there.”

“I didn’t get emancipated just so I can come back to that house. Hold on, are you in LA?”

“You guessed it right Sam, I just moved to LA 3 days ago.”

“Can we please meet?” I pleaded

“Today, your birthday lunch is on me so I will text you the place and time.”

“Thanks Kat!”

“Before you go there are a couple people who want to speak to you.” Kat said before handing the phone.

“Happy Birthday Sam.” Tears jerked into my eyes, the last time I heard her voice was when she told me that her older daughter wasn’t as stupid as me.

“Th-thanks.” I managed to get out.

“So what are you going to be doing today?”

“So far I am going out with Kat and working.”

“Oh okay I heard that you and Cody aren’t together anymore.”

“You heard right.”

“Can you come back home then?”

I took a deep breath, “I am afraid.” I paused “I am not going to.”

“Why not?” My mother’s voice raised a level

“Because I didn’t get emancipated to come running back to you guys, and also because Cody and I are apart that doesn’t mean I don’t love him.”

“You are ridiculous, this person cheated on you! Rahul would never do that.”

“That’s what I thought too but Rahul turned out to be an idiot because he just acted nice to get me closer to him so then he could just kiss me when he knows my story.”

“You know what it’s useless to talk to you so happy birthday and have a nice day!” My mother yelled hanging up the phone, I just laughed. I felt someone was behind so I just turned around to see nothing. I looked at the time and it was 1:00 when Kat texted me to be at the restaurant by 1:30. I rushed to get everything done I walked out of the kitchen to the living room to see Abby wearing a shirt with only one button done making out with Cody who was shirtless, I saw Alli walk downstairs ready to go, she held a package in her hand. “Where are mum and dad? Tom?” 

“They said they had to go down to Australia for a family emergency, I saw it in this note they left me. I made some macaroni and cheese which is on the stove and when this moron stops sucking faces with his daily chick then let him know that he has to be at the studio by 2:00 and it’s important.” I said sitting down putting my heals on, Alli giggled.

“Oh shut up Sam, all cause your boyfriend doesn’t love you, that doesn’t give you the right to bag on others.” Cody snapped

“For you information I don’t have a boyfriend.”

“That explains a lot.”

“The only thing it explains is that I am not a manwhore.” I said causing Alli to laugh.

As I was walking out of the house Alli stopped me “Before you go Sam, happy birthday!” Alli said handing me that package that I saw her carry. “Thank you so much Alli!” I said opening up the package. I opened the package and smiled the entire way through, it was a photo frame of the first night we were in New York, you could see Sasha, Alli, Cody and I close together in front of the night skyline. I ran my hand across the glass wishing we would go back to this time when we had no one to worry about, when Cody and I were happy, not fighting and when we were together. I smiled at Alli and hugged her, “I have to go now Als, my sister just got in town and I am going to meet her. You are going to have to go with him to the studio and I will pick you up at 3:30.” I said rushing out to my car as soon as I got I looked at the photo frame and pounded the steering wheel, I honestly hate fighting with Cody calling him a man whore and yelling at him. Though what really pushes me right now is that he doesn’t even bother to remember that today is my birthday, he usually remembers every important date but now he’s with Abby I have to understand I am a piece of crap to him now. I took a deep breath and took a nice scream that I needed once in a while, I smiled to myself and hit the road.
