I turn towards Clara and grab her hand. When she gets me into my room, she is gone before I can blink. I run to my closet and pull on some sort of metal armour. My hair is already braided, but I pull it into a ball at the back of my neck. The sky lights up a blinding white. Blue follows, then green, then purple.

Tyton, Ella, Rafe, Mother.

I run downstairs and towards a storage closet that was turned into a mini weaponry. I grab a gun and put it on a belt around my waist, along with a knife. Deciding that I'm better safe than sorry, I grab two more and put one in each boot.

Clara is beside me seconds later. She knows how to shoot, but she prefers to fight with knives. She puts three in her belt, one in each sleeve, and one in each of her boots. She grabbed my hand and teleports us outside. I'm not sure if my parents know that I'm going to fight, but I don't have time to think about that right now. They hate letting me fight off raiders.

I climb into the transport outside of my house, and decide to stay on the outside, while Clara climbs inside, preferring the warmth of the heater. It stops in front of Evangeline's house next. I'm not surprised when I see Evangeline, Ptolemous, and a very concerned Elane on the porch, but the two other Silver haired magnetrons surprise me.

Eve climbs into the front with her father, while Evangeline and Ty stay on the outside. Tyton is sitting on my left, and Ty sits too my right. I glance at him, and then murmur, "Is she in?" He nods his head.

"Do these things happen often?" He asks, referring to the raiders.

"At least twice a week, so I guess you could put it that way."

He is silent for a few minutes before he asks the last thing I want to hear. "Do you have any siblings?"

I shake my head no, not wanting to explain the death of my little sister. He doesn't seem to notice how tense I've become, but I feel like crying. The next stop is at Davidson's. He climbs into the transport, and we head for the northern border. I shiver against the autumn breeze.

"Cold?"

"No," I say , even though I feel like I'm going to freeze to death. I should've worn warmer clothes, but I enjoy the feeling of a cold. Montfort is not known for its warm summers, but instead its freezing winters. Clara told me that it's even colder in the Notch, where we'll be staying until the Lakelands are taken over by the Scarlet Guard.

I hear a gun being shot, and duck. The magnetron just laughs. "What's so funny?" I ask, irritated.

"I'm a magnetron. A bullet is easy for me to stop, and Aunt Evangeline is here, too, not to mention Father and Eve inside. There is nothing to be concerned for."

"Better safe than sorry."

"How is that any safer?" he asks with a smirk. I realize he's right, and sit straight again. I'm not sure how much I'm going to enjoy living in an underground bunker with this guy, and I haven't even met his sister, but at least he has a sense of humor.

I flinch at the sound of more gunshots. Nothing will ever be so horrible, as to sit and watch someone get shot. She is gone because of me, and I will always be the one to blame.

When the transport stops, I climb off and walk towards a clearing in the woods. I set the grass on fire, but keep it contained so I don't loose control. I hear footsteps behind me and turn to see four Samos's walking towards me, along with Clara, Davidson, Tyton, Farley, and my parents. Father slowly pulls the fire around us in an arena, but his control falters the second I feel the pressure of a Silence on me.

Mother screams in fear. I dodge several bullets and run towards the transport, ready to leave, but then I see Davidson, lying on the ground, holding his chest. I run towards the clearing again and aim my gun towards a raider, hoping it's the Silencer. The man falls to the ground, dead. I feel my abilities return and hear my mother's sigh of relief. A Greenie wraps a tree around my wrist, but I burn it away easily.

Father's back is to a raider that is about to shoot him, but Mother shocks him hard. I think he's dead. Tyton drops a nymph right as she is about to drown him. And as quickly as the battle began, it ended.

I turn to see Davidson coughing up red blood. Father and Ptolemous carry him inside the transport. I stay on the outside again. Ty whispers in a voice barely audible, "He won't make it back. There aren't any healers nevarby, except my mother, and she's at Aunt Evangeline's. They'll never make it."

I know he's right, but I don't want to think about it, so I pretend not to hear him. Instead, I dig my nails into my wrist until the metal in my armour stretches and covers the skin on my wrist. I glare at Ty and he frowns.

"You shouldn't hurt yourself. It's unhealthy."

"Don't judge my removal of mental pain."

"Causing physical pain?"

"Yes. If it makes you feel better, I'll get your mother to heal them later."

"I'm not fixing the armour until we get there and find out about Davidson."

"Stubborn much?"

"Very."

The transport finally arrived at Evangeline's house, and Father and Ptolemous carry Davidson inside. I run inside in time to see Wren shake her head.
