Stepping into Connors house a lot of good and bad memories come to mind.

I wonder if Connor remembered them too. Or is it just me hanging onto something that could have been.

"You painted your nails, I thought you said long ago you thought men with nail polish was tacky" I state a smile creeping onto my face sheepishly.

"Well as you know people change" he said plopping down on his couch patting the seat next to him.

Sitting next to him felt like old times the  way he would grab the nearest throw pillow and just cuddle it.

"What do you want to do?" Conner asked suddenly

"I don't know what does Connor James like to do for fun?"

Connor smiled widely showing perfectly straight white teeth.

"Do you want to take pictures?......like old times"

"I thought you would never ask" I say playfully.

Pacing around my room I think of all the places Zach could have gone. My mind was flooded with alot of questions.

"Hi Amber. Honey dinners ready" My mom said poking her head in the doorway.

I nod and follow her downstairs.

Sitting at are small round table food was sat infront of me. My mom smiled sweetly before sitting across from me.

"Honey I have a announcement" she said resting her arms on the table.

I look at her giving her my attention.

"Well I am going to be out of town in a couple of days. I know school will be starting but I believe you are responsible enough to take care of yourself and to go to school on your own"

I nod and try to process this information.

"When will you be leaving?"

"Tonight"

Wow that's soon.

"Why are you leaving?" I managed to ask in my shocked state.

"My dearest friend died and her funeral is tommarow and I know I will have to be their to help people greive"

"What about you?" I blurted absentmindedly

"What about me?"

"Who is going to help you greive?"

"I will be fine"

I wanted to protest but I didn't want to start a fight or argument so I held my tongue.

Conner turned off the tv when the credits started rolling. Glanceing at the time on his watch Connor yawned " It's getting late".

"We should get to bed" I state rubbing my eyes lazily

Connor walked away silently but returned with clothes in hand.

He handed me the close muttered night and retreated to his room.

I changed and folded my clothes on the coffee table.

Resting my head to the throw pillow I let sleep consume me.

Walking up Connor was in the kitchen fully dressed sitting at the island and sipping a mug of coffee. Confusion clouded over me as I walked over to him.

"Morning" Connor greeted

"Are you drinking coffee?" I asked confused

"Yes"

"I thought you said that and I quote 'coffee should go to hell and is bitter  af'"

"Well I have a diffrent opinion on it now"

"Well I see it has creamer so your not totally insane"

Conner smiled and sipped happily at his coffee.

"Want to go have fun....like old times?"
Connor said suddenly

"Sounds great. I would like to know who Connor James hangs out with these days and what he likes now. But I am pretty sure that none of his new  friends are as cool as Zach Lyman"

"Cocky much?"

"Let's relive old times" I say collecting my clothes from the coffee table and retreating into the bathroom to change.

After getting ready to the best of my abilities I walk back into the living room to see Connor was standing by the door. Conner has his work out sactual hanging at his side.

Walking outside Connor excitedly grabbed my hand and pulled me to his desired direction.

As we walked I could help think of how much he has changed but those thoughts of how much he was the same person I knew. Overpowered them.
