Empty Affair [AOT: Levi x Reader]

You had somehow managed to fall asleep that night, successfully awakening to the morning sunshine beating down into your squinted eyes. You protect your retinas from the horrible, intense light with your hand, all while glancing at the other side of the bed. Levi had already left; this was normal, he was a Captain after all, and it was best if you two didn't leave his room at the same time anyway. It was also important for you to depart his room while the hallway traffic outside the door was completely dead, all to avoid possible suspicion, and to keep Military gossip about the two of you minimum.

You quickly get out of bed and get ready in Levi's bathroom. Freshening yourself up and putting on a clean set of uniforms you had prepared for yourself the night before. As soon as you were looking good, you hurried out the room once the coast was clear and rushed to meet the rest of your squad for morning training.

You often heard mumbles from your fellow scouts wondering why you didn't come back to the sleeping quarters on some nights. Some suggest that you end up falling asleep among the horses, others do infer that you are, in fact, having an affair with an higher up, but no one is for sure who that higher up could be. All in all, their theories seemed very flimsy, as you and Levi have been very good at keeping your physical relationship a secret.

Despite all your peers gossip, they don't feel close enough to you to actually ask you yourself. Which, even though it made you feel a bit sad to be socially cut off from everyone, you also didn't know what you would do or say if someone did take interest in your night whereabouts. Despite the sadness of being basically ostracized, you were more of a loner anyway, so you figured you'd prefer it this way anyways.

"Line up and listen up, Soldiers!" Captain Levi's commanding voice drew from around the corner.

Everyone quickly shuffled from their friend groups to get in a straight order right as Levi appeared from behind the edge of the building. You, on the other hand, felt your heart beginning to race. You kept your composure, but hearing the Captain's voice made you blush.

Because of your state, your reaction time was a little slow compared to the rest of the Scouts. You hurriedly scrambled into the line up with the rest. Levi, followed by Commander Hange, stood relaxed in front of your group while you all saluted.

"That was almost well coordinated, but not well enough. It seems that some of you are still lacking in the brains department this early in the morning," Levi glared at you, and you felt your body go stiff from embarrassment.

"Moving on," Levi maintained his cold gaunt in his segway "I bet you're all wondering why I asked you all to meet in front of the stables today instead of our usual training areas".

Everyone stood still, all silently thinking how correct he truly was.

"It's simply because we are not training on killing Titans today," Levi pulled out a leather rein, stretching it tightly between his two hands, causing it to snap "I've noticed some inexcusable incompetent horse riding out in the field. When a Titan attacks it is priority that you all know how to properly use your equipment, and knowing how to ride a horse in a battle is no exception".

You subconsciously flash a large grin upon hearing the news. A few people glance your way, knowing that you were pretty much crazy about anything to do with domesticated wildlife. You hoped that this was now your chance to show off to Levi that you more than just sex partners, and to show him that you had other aspects about yourself that he could find interesting about you.
