Chapter Seven

"How are things with Betty?" The blue eyed girl asked.

"We're okay," Jughead sighed. Adeline remembered when Betty showed up at her house on the night Jughead broke up with her. While she was explaining what had happened, Adeline decided to have a Supernatural marathon to cheer her up.

The two jumped when they heard Adeline's ringtone. "You still haven't changed it?" Jughead smiled. Her ringtone was the hook of the rap song Sail by Machine Gun Kelly. It was no doubt that whenever someone called her, she would get scared and ignore it at first. "If it scares you then why don't you change it?"

"I like it," She shrugged before answering her phone. "Hello?"

"Addy! I have some good news for you," Veronica Lodge said with glee.

"What is it?" She hoped it had to do something with Hiram wanting the bakery.

"With a lot of begging and persuasion, I convinced my father to not buy your bakery!" Adeline squealed and jumped around in her spot with Jughead looking at her with confused eyes.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" The two girls laughed and said their goodbyes before hanging up. "YES!" Adeline did a happy dance and stopped to catch her breath.

"Did Veronica get you tickets to see your favorite band?" Jughead joked.

"I wish," she pouted. She had always wanted to go to a 5 Seconds of Summer concert. "But no, she called because we get to keep our bakery." She sang. "Now, let's go tell my dad the good news."

The two rushed into the bakery,"Dad, El, I have good news!" 

Elliana stepped out behind the counter and Will put down the batch of crescents. "What is it?" The man asked.

A grin broke out on the young girl's face and nearly shouted,"We get to keep the bakery!" El, Will, and the rest of the workers who were there, all cheered and jumped in joy. Will wrapped Adeline and Jughead in his arms tightly. Will and Adeline were close with the Jones and would occasionally have a get together.

"How?" Will asked once he pulled apart from the hug.

"Veronica convinced Hiram." Adeline replied.

"Did she tell you how she did it?" The Serpent woman asked. El felt like there was more to the story. The smaller girl frowned a bit and shook her head no.

"Maybe I should ask her." El saw the frown on her face and quickly dismissed the idea, not wanting to see Adeline frown.

"Time for you lot to get to school." William said as he gave the two teenagers a bag full of treats.

"You are the best, Mr. Hart," Jughead's mouth watered as he breathed in the scent of the treats.

The man gave him a look,"I told you to call me Will, Jughead. Mr. Hart makes me feel old."

"That's because you are old." Adeline and Elliana said at the same time. They gave each other a high five and smiled.

"You two will be the death of me."

Jughead laughed and began to pull Adeline towards the door,"Let's go."

While walking to school, the two filled in one another on what they missed. They talked about the Serpents, El and Will, Dorian(who Jughead despises), and the reptile Nick St. Clair. Adeline despised Nick with all her heart after she heard what he did to Veronica and Cheryl. She saw him leading a groggy Cheryl up the stairs and called Vee and the Pussycats. They stopped him before he could do any worse to her. She shuddered just thinking about him.
