Annabella woke with a start when she realised she wasn't in bed. As she opened her eyes and took in the situation she realised that her mother's hand was resting on her head whilst her other hand propped up the resting professors head. Feeling glad Annabella snuggled her face closer to her mother and rested her eyes again falling into a deep slumber. There they remained until Annabella awoke again to see her mother looking lovingly at her resting form.
Annabella pulled away and Minerva just smiled. "Feeling better?" She asked and Annabella nodded slowly. "I love you." Minerva spoke softly and Annabella hugged her tightly. "I know mummy. I am sorry. I wasn't really thinking." Was all that was said as a reply making Minerva sigh. "Now. You are still young and even Albus makes mistakes from time to time. That does not let you off the hook. Consequences must be faced."
Annabella nodded slowly fearing her consequences. "Once term starts up you shall serve a detention with our defence teacher. Mr Remus Lupin or Professor Lupin to you." Annabella had seen so many defence teachers she wasn't surprised to find out the change in teacher. That and last year's teacher was at St Mungo's and the year before the professor had Voldemort chilling in his turban.
"Okay mother." Bella nodded and let her head hang low. "You shall serve a week of detentions." Although seven were a lot of detentions she was expecting a months worth of detentions. Simply nodding Annabella met her mother's eyes again. "What was he like?" She asked honestly. "The muggle." Minerva just sighed. "Nothing for you to worry about." Annabella felt outraged again but remembered that she acts like a brat when angry. "Surly I have an right to know the person you love more than me." Annabella defiantly said and Minerva looked down in a condescending manner. "You cannot know everything about me and my past." She spoke sharply.
"You tell me that you want to know everything about me no matter how important or not because without me you don't have much else. Yet, I want to just know this one thing about you and you won't tell me. Without you I have nothing. I have no father and would have no mother. Everything I know about you I heard from other people. Please I just want to know why you love him so much. I won't run I promise." Minerva shook her head and as she left just whispered about being too young.
Swiftly term started and she stood outside with her fellow first years waiting for her mother to bring them in like she had watched for so many years. Eventually her mother walked over to the students. Luckily Bella stood at the back so her mother couldn't see her behind the tall brunette in front of her. Students were in awe at the large castle as they navigated there way for a short walk to the hall. The doors opened and mouths hung open at the candles above them. A few familiar faces greeted and said their hellos to the young first year witch. She wore her plain black robes waiting for her sorting. A few 'told you she started this year. That's why she isn't up there.' Were heard but she played ignorant to it all. The hall was the same as every year and Bella was glad.
Her mother read out the names of students and Annabella listened as intently as always seeing who was in her year. There were less Slytherin students than usual that year she noted. Her thoughts followed students till "Annabella Eileen." Was said. Minerva was obviously taken back for a second but spoke as though she wasn't shocked "Mcgonagall." She finished and Bella walked to the stood. Fear overcame her but a blank face was shown. Bella could see the paper and saw Albus had written 'as requested.' Next to her name which meant Bella was in more trouble.
'Exactly like your mother. Kind no doubt but still confident within yourself. A degree of defiance like her too. I see your father as well but only a little. Your mother was tough enough never mind with this. Very mature for your age and very powerful. You are quick to act. I see. Hmm. Yes I see.' After five and a half minutes the hat still pondered. A few faces looked shocked or bored at the time taken. What house do you want to be in?' The hat asked 'not Gryffindor' she hushed but the hat laughed for all the hall you hear. 'Why ever not?' He hat asked 'mother' was her quick reply. 'Your mother took less time to sort than this. But, I think you would do well as a Gryffindor. Your friends and family are Gryffindor.' The hat informed her and she just felt nervous. 'Please not Gryffindor but please be quick.' She requested pleading with the hat. You are so much like Ravenclaw just as your mother was all those years ago. But just like her you shall be...' the hat finally made the announcement and Annabella already knew "Gryffindor." It bellowed and cheers of impatience were sounded.
