Finals week was stressful, but it was also over too soon. Dev almost couldn't believe that her first year of high school was already done. It seemed like she had just met Peter, Ned, and Harry yesterday. It was even more of a shock that she and Harry had been dating for five months. She still thought about the December days where they would play in the snow and grab hot chocolates in picturesque places. During finals, he always tried to send her little texts or notes to cheer her up. She could see why lots of girls liked him - he had charm and looks.

Speaking of other girls, Dev noticed over the five months that her social status at school shifted like the waves on the beaches in California. Now, either every girl was her "new best friend" or her new enemy. She got evil glances in the hallways and then sweet smiles in classrooms. Dev usually ignored them though, and just stuck to talking to Michelle or the girls from the Decathlon team.

As the last month of school commenced, Dev found herself hanging out more with Harry and his friends. She still mostly talked to Peter and Ned, as she never talked too much with Harry's more popular acquaintances, but she also noticed that she was not as close to the other two boys as in the middle of the year. She missed them a bit, but it was ok. They still had classes together, and plus, Harry made her happy, which was a very good thing. Even her brothers could tell she was happier for some reason (Dev still had not told them about Harry).

Yearbook signing, which was the last day of school, was the most fun day for Dev. She got her yearbook in the beginning of the day and went around in her classes getting people to sign. It was actually fun, even though it required social interaction.

"I hate people wasting ink on pointless things," Michelle said blandly as Dev offered to sign her yearbook.

"Ok, well do you want to use a pencil?" Dev asked. Michelle cracked a small smile.

"Sure," she shrugged. They exchanged books, signing in pencil as to not waste ink.

"Thanks, MJ," Dev laughed as she read the note: 'Have a summer. It might not be a great one, but whatever. You're pretty cool. - Michelle'

"No problem, Brit," Michelle said, walking off.

"Hey! Dev, over here!" Ned waved. She turned to see the boys grinned at her. They were all in the cafeteria for lunch, but since it was the last day, it was filled to the brim with students. She walked over to them, holding her yearbook.

"Hey, guys," she said. "Wanna sign my yearbook?" They nodded and all exchanged yearbooks.

"Wow, Dev, you got a lot of friends," Peter laughed, while gazing over the signatures on the inside of her covers,

"They're mostly Harry's," she said. "I don't really care about their fake crap. But I saved a spot for you guys." She flipped to blank page self-labelled: "RESERVED FOR VIPS." Peter and Ned grinned and started scribbling messages on the page. Dev wrote some short notes in their books, and they exchanged again.
