It has been a week since her firsth therapy session, and nothing was helping. Her nightmares were getting worse, to the point where she would cling to Liam for dear life and was terrified of sleep. She was exhausted, and so was the other 2/3 of the household, but neither of them were complaining.
Emily stirs in her sleep, her first proper sleep in ages, her head resting on Liam's lap, her grip on Liam's shirt tightening slightly as he looks down at her, wondering for the hudredth time why it had to be her? Why was she given such a crappy childhood?
His phone vibrates next to him, pulling him from his thoughts as he reaches for it, unlocking the phone to reply to the read the text.
>> Hey, haven't talked 2 u in a while
He stared at the text from Danielle. Danielle, his ex-girlfriend. Danielle, the one that he had been desperately in love with, the Danielle that had decided it'd be best to just be friends. The Danielle that had once broken his heart, the Danielle that he had to get over with, but that was a while a go now.
Biting on his lower lip, he tried to think of a reply and decided to go with,
>> Yeah, has been a while :)
Her reply was almost instant.
>> Ur mum says ur not coming home 4 Easter :(
Harry had gone home for the Easter holidays, but Liam couldn't find himself doing so. He felt bad turning down his mother, she hadn't seen him in nearly three months, but he couldn't bring Emily with him and certainly couldn't leave her by herself.
Liam: Yeh, soz. kinda have a lot going on atm
Danielle: That's fine :) Hope 2 c u soon .xx
Liam doesn't bother with a reply, just shuts his phone off an tosses it on the couch.

The obnoxious knocking at Liam's front door awakens him from his peaceful sleep. I would be lying if I didn't say that he was a little annoyed. You couldn't blame him really, this would have been his first proper sleep in days.
Not bothering to look through the peephole, Liam opens the door to get an armful of Danielle. wait... Danielle?!?
"Happy Easter Friday!" she says with a bright smile after pulling away to give him her brightest smile.
"Danielle, what are you doing here?" Liam asks cautiously, trying not to be loud and wake up Emily.
"I wasn't going to let you spend Easter alone," she says, rolling her eyes jokingly before kissing his cheek.
"Uh, that's very nice of you, Danielle, but I am fine." he tries to assure her but she shakes her head, taking a seat on the sofa.
"Now, you aren't going to convince you to make me leave, ok? I haven't seen you in ages and I miss you." she finishes.
"No, really it's fine-" Liam was cut short as a tired and small voice calls his name. He turns around in a second to see Emily in one of his old band t-shirts and rubbing at her eyes and he smiles at her.
"Oh," Danielle says, coughing awkwardly. "I didn't know you had company... Should I leave you and your girlfriend alone?"
"Oh... we're not together," Liam assures her, trying to hide the trace of disappointment in his tone, he hadn't done a good job of it by the raised eyebrow he recieves from Emily.
"Oh, so a friend of yours then Liam?" Danielle asks, listening to Liam's quiet plea t not say anything, her smile instantly brightening as she takes steps towards the younger girl, reaching out her hand.
"Hi, I'm Danielle, it's nice to meet you," she says, waiting for Emily to shake her hand. Emily blinks a few times, before giving her a small smile and shaking her hand.
"Emily," she introduces.
Danielle stays for dinner and dessert making polite chatter with Liam and eventually Emily joined into the coversation too, which surprised Liam to say the least.
"So, you're parents aren't expecting you home for Easter?" the simple question is enough to make Liam freeze, waiting for Emily's breath to quicken and fall to the floor, but miraculously, it never comes. Instead, Emily just grasps for Liam's hand, and he gives her a reassuring squeeze as she smiles at him sadly.
"I actually don't have any family," Emily replies shakily, placing her head on Liam's shoulder for comfort while Danielle lets out an audible gasp, covering her mouth with her hand.
"I am so sorry!" she quickly apologises, and Emily shakes her head, assuring her that it's fine as Liam gives her hand another squeeze, his smile small but proud.
Danielle leaves not much later, hugging Emily tightly and kissing Liam's cheek.
"You should go for it," Danielle whispers into Liam's ear before pulling away and smiling at him before leaving that apartment.
Liam, on the other hand, was not too sure that was a good idea.
