Harry wasn't really thinking when he tumbles out of his room in the middle of the night. Wasn't thinking when he makes himself some tea, the kettle already having been boiled, wasn't thinking when he plops down on the couch with late night TV already playing reruns of FRIENDS which he hadn't turned on.
He wasn't thinking at all until he hears someone shift uncomfortably next to him. Only when he turns his head to find Emily staring back at him, a small smile playing on her lips as she looks back at him, curled up on the couch with a mug in her hands.
"Sorry," is what he says, because he isn't thinking "I didn't mean to disturb you."
And she gives him a confused look before shaking her head in assurance because this was his apartment.
"Couldn't sleep?" is all she says, and he nods his head.
"Yeah," but it's not a rare occurance. He adds silently and she gives him an understanding smile.
It had been 3 weeks since Louis had shown up at the apartment, playing that song that Emily knew so well, and 3 weeks since Emily's last panick attack. Emily had improved heaps, she was much happier now than she had been in a while.
Emily and Harry got a long really well, (they had surpassed the bad first impression and when he had found her in the bathroom, lying in her own blood) because whenever Liam wasn't home, Harry would be. She was on one of the bench stools, watching Harry as he slaved away at the stove (not really, but Harry would always complained to Liam once, "I feel the like the girl in this relationship. You never cook dinner, and your out all day and I am just sick of it" to which Liam just laughed. Which was ok, because Harry wasn't serious) Emily sighed loudly, causing Harry to look over his shoulder at her, asking if she wanted to help. Emily jumped at the chance of something to occupy her time, grabbing the carrot and knife from Harry and quickly chopping away.
They made it a thing, Harry would cook and Emily would chop, stir, season or any chore Harry would give her, and she loved every minute of it. They would have their own conversations during preparation, talking about music and school and their favourite topic, the tv show FRIENDS.
He liked watching with her, listening to her laugh because she rarely did, and he was happy with himself when he was there to witness it.
But sometimes it hurt to hear her laugh and smile, because she reminded him so much of her. But he tried to keep all thoughts of his own past under lock and key in the back of his mind.
"Harry?" Emily asks, waving her hand in front of her face, giving him an amused look. He shook his head of his thoughts, smiling gently back at her.
"Thought I lost you for a second there," she laughs gently, showing her teeth.
Harry returns the smile with a small one of his own, turning back to the television where Monica currently had a turkey on her head, his eyes slowly closing.

Liam noticed how close Harry and Emily had got, but he didn't say anything because he wasn't jealous, he seriously wasn't.
But when he came into the lounge room with the TV on playing an infomercial for a wieght loss program, finding Emily and Harry curled up together on the couch, both fast asleep, he would be lying if he said his heart hadn't twisted painfully.
He quickly looked away, grabbing his bag from underneath the coffee table, looking back when he hears shuffling.
"Li?" Harry's voice was rough from sleep, and as Liam turned to face him, Harry had a large smile on his face, stretching his long limbs with Emily still alseep next to him.
"You got class today?" Harry continues and Liam nods his head.
"Did you want me to make you breakfast?"
Liam shook his head, showing his best friend the apple in his hand before racing out the door, leaving an utterly confused Harry behind.
***
"He Ems," Harry asks, the three of them sitting at the dinner table, currently eating spaghettie bolognese. Emily looks up at Harry, smilling fondly at him.
"Yeah Harry?"
Liam just stayed silent, they had been talking to each other all through dinner about the tv show they both liked, one Liam had no idea about so he had to just sit back and listen, his heart twisting painfully with every fond smile Harry and Emily sent each other.
And since when did Harry have a nickname for her? Ems... Is he serious? But Liam wasn't jealous, he wasn't.
"I wanted to wait for the right time to tell you," Harry continues, smiling when Emily sends him a curious look.
"But I may have gotten you a job!" The room goes silent, both Liam and Emily looking at Harry in surprise, who only smiles at Emily with that boyish grin that he has perfected, dimples and all.
"Are you serious, Haz?" Emily asks, looking at him somewhat skeptically.
And Haz?
"Yeah, my uncle works at a resturaunt downtown and he needs a new waitress, and I mentioned you and he said that he would like for you to come in."
Emily smiles wider than Liam has ever seen her, jumping out of her seat to hug Harry, who stands up to hug her properly, her arms around his neck, nuzzling her nose into his shoulder.
And yeah, maybe Liam is angry, getting out his seat noisily and stomping of to his room, slamming the door behind him.
I am once again really sorry for the slow updates. But I am trying to improve my writing, and the way that's best to do that is to read, and that's what I have been doing alot. Tell me what you think of Emily and Harry's friendship? Don't forget to vote :)
