A black she-cat sat alone on a boulder by a lake. There were flames in the distance. She watched them. She was alone. Tears ran down her cheeks as she cried out for her kin. "Please Mama! Where are you?!"
*Many Moons Earlier*
"They are so beautiful." Blackfrost mewed to his mate as he looked at his kits.
"What should we call them?" Lightsky meowed meeting her mates gaze. One of the tiny kits opened their eyes. His eyes were a beautiful deep green. They reminded Blackfrost of the lake they lived by.
"Lake. His eyes look like the lake." Blackfrost flicked his tail towards the lake.
Lightsky nodded agreeing that it was the perfect name for the white kit. "What about these two?" Lightsky nudged the two other kits. The tabby kit opened his eyes. They were amber.
"Hm..What about Robin?" Blackfrost suggested.
"I love it." Lightsky said sweetly. "Your good at names but may I name this one?" Lightsky asked nudging the black kit with tiny white paws. The kit opened her eyes and squinted at the bright sunlight.
"Of course you can." Blackfrost chuckled and smiled.
"Thank you. I think I need to think about it though." Lightsky said. She curled up with her tiny kits and quickly fell asleep. Blackfrost curled up beside her and thought of what his kits would become.
The next morning was just as light and beautiful as the one before. Lightsky opened her eyes to see that Blackfrost was still curled up beside her. She felt like something was missing. She glanced at her kits.
Her eyes widened when she realized one of the kits were missing. She heard a cry in the distance then a splash.
