** Danny's POV **

"Where the heck is your car, man? And why did you need a ride," Julian asked as I slid into the car and buckled up.

I sighed and looked over at him. "I-I... Juliet showed up at my door last night," I confessed. "I-I... She's using my car for the day."

Julian looked at me before he pulled onto the road. "What do you mean she's using your car for the day," he asked, his blue eyes practically staring into my soul.

I let out a huff. "I-I... She broke up with Gene... and... God I think she was wandering the streets alone last night... She came to my place and began crying her eyes out. I-I... Jules sh-she looked so broken," I mumbled and shook my head.

Julian's eyebrows were furrowed as he looked over at me. "What'd you do then, Danny? Don't tell me you and her made your ways to your bedroom and had a dandy ol time in bed," he shot at me, his eyes going wide.

I rolled my eyes. "Of course not! She was emotionally unstable! I'm not taking advantage of her, Jules," I complained. "I'm not that kinda person! You should know that!"

Julian let out a sigh and shook his head. "I-I know you're not. I'm sorry... But, man I'm worried about you. If she's really just in this for the sex, you're gonna get your heartbroken," Julian practically whispered.

"I think she just needs a friend right now," I mumbled.

"Dola, that's only going to hurt you more. I-I just... you're already head over heels, it's only gonna get worse," Jules pointed out with a sigh.

I sighed. "You don't think I don't know that? I wasn't just gonna let her waste her money on a hotel room, man," I mumbled and shook my head.

Julian sighed but nodded. "This still doesn't explain why she's using your car for the day, Dola," Jules challenged as he stopped at a stoplight.

"I-I... She's gonna be living at my place until she can find a new apartment," I practically whispered.

He was already giving me a hard time about the situation. This was only going to piss him off further.

"What! Dola, you're only making it worse for yourself! You realize that, right? Man, we're best friends, but I've gotta tell you when you're being stupid, and right now, you're being extremely stupid! You thought you were hurt last night? Jesus," Julian practically yelled.

"Man... I just..." His voice was much quieter now.

"I couldn't turn her away," I grumbled. "I couldn't Jules." I shook my head.

Julian sighed. "I know you couldn't. But... if If you get hurt, you can't blame me for saying I told you so. I'm just trying to look out for you," Jules finally mumbled quietly.

I nodded. "I know you are... But I think I know what I'm doing," I whispered.

***

I sighed as I leaned back in my locker cubby and waited for Jules to come back from wherever the hell he was.

Practice finished nearly an hour before and he disappeared somewhere to talk to someone in PR, leaving me to do nothing but wait for him to come back.

"Why did I ask him for a ride again," I questioned aloud as I leaned back further and pulled my knees up to my chest.

A minute or so later, he came shuffling in and to his locker to grab his duffle bag. He smiled over at me. "Ya ready Danny boy?"

I nodded. "Yeah. I'm just ready to head home and do nothing. I'm beyond sore right now," I mumbled as I pulled myself up.

Julian nodded as the two of us began to walk out of the building. "I'm sorry for blowing up on you earlier," Julian said quietly as we got to his car and he unlocked it.

I pulled the passengers door open and slid in before looking over at him. "I understand Jules. But you know where I'm coming from, right?"

Julian nodded. "I do. I'm your friend and I should be supporting you no matter what, okay? It was wrong of me to act the way I did. You're an adult and you can make your own decisions... And even if you fall hard, I'll always be there to pick you up," Jules mumbled as he pulled out of the parking lot of Gillette.

I nodded. "I appreciate that man," I mumbled.

After a rather long drive back to my place, I was getting anxious thinking about Juliet and if she'd be there when I got back.

I had my answer when I saw my car in it's parking spot on the side of my townhouse.

"Thanks for the ride, Jules, I'll see you at practice tomorrow," I said as I grabbed my duffle bag and began to slide out of his car.

His hand reaching out and grabbing my wrist stopped me. "Hey man."

I rolled my eyes and looked back at Jules. "What's up?"

"Good luck... And if I were you, I'd keep a slight distance so you don't get hurt," he said, his blue eyes looking at me with seriousness swimming in them.

I nodded and pulled from his grip.

I made my way up the steps and pushed the door open. When I walked inside, the sound of Juliet talking filled the house, as well as the smell of something really good cooking.

"Okay, yes, thank you. Okay, I'll see ya then, Mike. Yep... Bye," Juliet's voice said from the kitchen.

"I'm home," I called as I dropped my bag by the door. I rounded the corner and she was standing at the stove, stirring something on a pot. "What One earth are you making? It smells amazing."

She whipped around as her cheeks became a shade redder. "Oh... I Uh I found your diet plan while I was looking for a pot and decided to make something off your diet plan for lunch for the two of us," she said with raised eyebrows.

"Oh... That's nice of you," I said with a shrug. "Who were you just talking to?"

Her beautiful honey colored eyes lit up. "I just got a call from the office and they want me to work the Pats game on Monday night," she said excitedly.

"That's great, Juliet! Did they say who you'd be doing the interview with," I asked as I moved forward and sat down in a barstool.

"Julian Edelman! I never thought I was gonna get to interview someone as big as him," she said with a big smile on her face.

"You've got an interview with Jules?" My jaw dropped a bit.

"Yeah! I'm so excited!"

I threw a fake smile on my face.

This is what Julian was up to— God he better not do anything stupid.
