Chapter 4: Making a Demon

Monserrat was in her living room with the T.v turned on. The daily morning news was on. A light skinned, dark blonde woman was sitting next to a man with black hair and tan skin both heavily coated in make up both were wearing suit jackets. The women's jacket was red and the mans was blue. Coincidentally or maybe not a coincidence at all was the news stations colors. She was half asleep when Noticia de emergencia (Breaking news) flashed over the screen. The woman came back into screen shuffling papers in her hands and she smiled at the camera.

"Granset appears to have a serial murder prowling through its city. We have just been informed here in Televis daily news another victim has been found dead and identified," The news anchor informed the audience in spanish. "Melilea Jackson a 34 year old african american was found deceased just moments ago in her home. Her husband and daughter were not home during the attack. Nothing else has been released by police we'll keep you informed. Now-"

Monserrat sighed and pressed the off button on the remote. The screen went black and she stood up. Another body stacked up in the killers list. The weekend was starting in a depressing note.Another soul that she would have to collect and was sure to give her nightmares. Monserrat grabbed her cloak and headed out the front door. She could hear her brothers trap music from downstairs the only sound in the entire house.

Monserrat peeked her head outside when she was sure none of her neighbors could see her she slipped outside and closed the door. Checking side to side she walked down the path only to run into a man.

"Your in quite a hurry Bella," a familiar voice said.

"Jasper," Monserrat said with a roll of eyes "How do you always just appear?"

Jasper smiled,he lightly nudged Monserrat's chin up with his index finger.

"I appear when you think of me," Monserrat pushed Jasper's face away looking rather annoyed.

"That sure isn't what brings you here. Now what are you here for?" She briskly walked past him and walked in the direction of the style of houses she was looking for. Jasper linked his hands behind him and followed her. His mint shirt and khaki pants was a sharp contrast to Monserrat's black cloak, dark jeans and burgundy T shirt. He was a beacon of light under the sparsely cloudy blue sky.

"I was just in the neighborhood-"

"Bullshit Jasper. You suddenly appear after another murder is committed and you wanna say you were in the neighborhood. The police have no leads you have to know something."

Jasper raised in hands in surrender and then pocketed them.

"I don't know anything so far. I'm looking into it, but only to check if your suspicions that it's some supernatural related creature is true. If not and I know their human, my hands are tied. I wouldn't tell you who they are. Understand that Monserrat," Jasper said.

"People are dying Jasper," Monserrat said her voice dying in volume.

"People die everyday Bella such is the course of life. Now I can show you where the latest victim lived."

Monserrat nodded and followed Jasper's lead.

They arrived in front of a one story home. It was painted rather brightly with a red roof and orange walls. Police tape was squared over the whole perimeter. It looked full and lived in with toys littering the yard and garden ornaments carefully placed. Monserrat stopped letting Jasper walk a few steps forward to the police tape.

"What are you doing?" Monserrat asked. Jasper looked back and gave her a sheepish smile.

"Whoopsy I forgot you can't just walk into the front door," Jasper said with an amused grin rubbing the back of his neck.
