Chapter Two: The Letter

It was a week later when every 20 years old received a letter. A letter that made many people groan.
As it was, there has been a big enough speculation- thanks to Rita Skeeter and the Daily Prophet- over who was destined to fill the prophecy.

Hermione was eating cornflakes when a very tired owl came in and landed face first in her breakfast.

"Good morning!" she greeted and fed it some dry cornflakes from the box. "The water bowl is by the sink if you need any." The owl gratefully flapped over after she had rescued the letter.

She also vanished her soiled breakfast and cleaned the owl of its milk laden feathers.

Dear Miss Granger,
Due to the unexpected prophecy last week at the Battle of Hogwarts Ball, the Minister sees fit to gather all suitable to fulfill it at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
You are expected to take the Hogwarts Express at 11:00 AM at Platform 9 3/4 on the 12th May, along with your fellow year-mates.
Upon arrival, you will be re-sorted and then escorted to your accommodation. You need not wear the standard Hogwarts uniform but your own robes and clothes.
You will not be required to attend lessons but you must attend the sessions set up daily at 9:00 in the Great Hall. The only day these will not be on is on Sundays.
These sessions will be up to 3 hours long and may continue after a lunch break. Otherwise, you have free time, as long as you attend the regular Hogwarts meals etc. Please be considerate of the other residents of Hogwarts who will be studying until late June.

You have been excused from your work until then. Bring anything you want as appropriate but note that furniture is provided.
You may make any changes to your respective accommodation as you wish. Also, note that you will be sharing rooms with a partner, so be respectful of them.
Any failure to comply will result in having your wand snapped and being exiled from the wizarding world.
Yours sincerely,
Minerva McGonagall Headmistress of Hogwarts Hermione sighed. She had 3 days to pack. So she decided to floo to Harry and Ginny's flat.

***In Malfoy Manor*** Truth be told, Narcissa Malfoy had taken the prophecy extremely well. She guessed that her son was most likely destined to be one to fulfill the prophecy and her and Blaise's mother agreed that it had to be Hermione Granger- though  Eada Zabini thought Blaise rather than Draco. The two women had both agreed to accept that Hermione Granger could be their future daughter-in-law. Blaise was more understanding but Draco was a different story. He was furious. "Mother! Please tell me that we have some kind of Mudblood relative!" he begged. Narcissa would pretend to consider but would shake her head. Then, she knocked him out and levitated him into the "Angry Room". It was a room purely for taking out anger. There were dummies to punch, the walls, floor and ceiling were giant cushions and there was a lot of paper to tear up. Narcissa fed him a Sleeping Draught, laid him on the ever so comfy floor, confiscated his wand and slipped out, locking him in. He had been in the room for a week, house-elves bringing him food laced with sleeping potions, refreshing potions and well potions to make him better. When the letter arrived, Narcissa had the sense to put in a whole vial of a Calming Draught. Then, she slipped a copy under the door, before owling back saying Draco would be delighted to attend- not that he had any choice. Narcissa packed for him and sent off the suitcase ahead of time. It was 10:30 on the 12th May. Draco had been knocked out with a heavy sleeping potion, courtesy of Horace Slughorn as Narcissa had expressed Draco's reluctance to attend. He was now in a compartment with Blaise and Pansy who promised to pass on Narcissa's apologies and goodbyes when Draco woke up. Narcissa gave her permission to stun him or immobilise him in any way, should he put up any resistance when he woke up. On the opposite end of the train, the Golden Trio plus Ginny, Neville and Luna. Luna was there to try out teaching in Care of Magical Creatures and Ginny had somehow persuaded McGonagall to let her come, under the excuse "I want to help Madam Hooch teach Quidditch and Flying"

Ginny was only a reserve chaser on the Holyhead Harpies but Isabella Crawford was 'due to retire any day now' and it was a massive understatement to say that Ginny was hoping. "I hope it doesn't mention any of us in that prophecy," Neville commented. Hermione laughed a laugh without humour. "Yes well unless you're re-sorted into Slytherin, then you don't have a chance."

"True. Do you think the Sorting Hat will be asked to sort us into either Slytherin or Gryffindor? I mean, it would help... I suppose not." commented Ginny, seeing all the shocked and confused looks of her friends.

They fell into a comfortable silence, with Ginny dreaming of her position as a chaser on the Holyhead Harpies whilst Harry fiddled with her hair.
Luna seemed to be studying something, perhaps for her new trial classes and Neville read a book on herbology that he had brought with him.
Hermione, as per expected, was reading and Ron was unsuprisably stuffing his mouth with food.

They sat that way, in a comfortable silence, for the rest of the journey, though Draco, Pansy and Blaise's story was very different: Draco's eyes fluttered open.

He stretched and looked around. "Where are we?" He asked. Blaise and Pansy glanced at each other nervously before Pansy replied. "On the train to Hogwarts."

Draco took several deep breaths, not noticing Pansy and Blaise quietly draw out their wands, should Draco try to resist them.

Fortunately (after tearing up his side of the compartment and smashing the window and luggage rack) he calmed down and remained that way for the rest of the journey.
Pansy repaired it all with a swish of her wand whilst Blaise, remaining unconvinced, tried to force-feed Draco a Calming Draught.
