The next morning, Hermione was shaken awake at 7:00 AM. "C'mon Granger, it takes half an hour to get to the hall. If you want a shower and breakfast, you'd better chop chop." drawled Draco.

Hermione hid her smirk, turned to face the wall and promptly fell asleep. At 8:00, Malfoy became too bored of waiting for her to leave the sanctury of her bedroom and left to "bug Potter and see if the She-Weasel is up".

She heard them both storm down the corridor complaining about the girls' late starts (apparently Ginny had showed Luna the shortcut and they had agreed to leaving at an appropiate time).

Hermione got up and showered, packing her bag and meeting them by the wall at 10 past 8. 5 minutes later they were strolling into the Great Hall, much to the shock of Blaise, Harry and Draco.   "How in Merlin's name... you were in the shower 15 minute ago!" accused Draco.

Harry was busy begging Ginny to tell her the secret while Blaise continued to eat breakfast serenely, reading his Daily Prophet and trying to ignore the Howler from his mum for getting matched with Luna.
Luna was gazing around and watching the other four bicker.

"Please tell me Gin... I'll buy you your favourite chocolates." pleaded Harry.

"C'mon, Granger , if you don't tell me I will... er... bar you from all libraries! Then I will torture you into submission with the Tickling Charm."

"Oh, Malfoy... I'm not ticklish. I've placed a ward on myself so that any minor hexes, curses and charms are directed straight back to the user, who then finds they can't move." smirked Hermione.

This continued for 25 minutes before...

"REDUCTO!" Draco's plate of breakfast became a pile of ash. "IF ANYONE DARES TO ASK HERMIONE, LUNA OR I ONE MORE TIME, I WILL NOT HESITATE TO DO WHAT I JUST DID TO FERRET'S PLATE. TO EITHER OF YOU. GOT IT?" Ginny screeched. Draco looked at what used to be his breakfast mournfully and sighed. Harry began to protest.

"But Gin... I'm your boyfriend! If you do that to me, we'll never get to go to Paris together! And you know you love me really!"

He was silenced by glares coming from Ron (who still hadn't accepted they were dating), Hermione, Draco and Blaise.

Luna hummed  a Wierd Sisters track, breaking the silence that the Great Hall was full of after Ginny's outburst. Blaise transfigured a quill into a new plate for Draco, who had vanished the ash.

Draco quickly began to finish eating breakfast and for the next 10 minutes they were relatively peaceful, only Hermione and Draco shooting insults at each other.
On another table, Pansy was trying to inch away subtly from Ron, who had his mouth full as always.

She truly felt disgusted and ashamed as a Howler had come for her too when her parents had found out she was partnered with 'that blood- traitor Weasel'. Fortunately, breakfast was ending and younger students began to disperse.

The long breakfast tables changed into small desks for two and each had a nameplate. They found their seats next to their partners and people began to settle down when the Minister walked in, followed by an annoyed looking Professor McGonagall.

They were tailed by three Aurors: Thomas Lawson, Jonathan Rowle, and Clara Shafiq-Hossini.   Kingsley began speaking. "Due to some surprising matches where a little co-operation is needed, from both you and your parents and carers."

His eyes flickered over some of the Purebloods, whose parents had not exactly been fond of their partners- it was clear that Pansy's parents had used a Sonorus Charm to just about deafen everyone once the Howler had magnified it even more.

"The Ministry has decided to use a spell created a mere week or so ago and developed to help you bond."

Hermione turned pale and passed out. No one other than her, her friends and the adults in the room knew that it was a physical bond.

Ginny, who was the only person who had otherwise noticed and realized why her friend had passed out, shot a quick 'rennervate' at her.

"The only way to break the spell is known only to myself and the creator. She did not want us to use this, especially after we have developed it to what it is now. I ask you not to panic."

With a nod of his head, the three Aurors began to make their way around the room muttering "fatis vinculus caritatis nuptia" thrice.

Gold streams of light wound their way around each pairs arms and settled as a band, from their wrist to their shoulders.
Draco turned to find Hermione banging her head on the table. "Granger, are you sure you're okay?"

"No. I'm in charge of my own demise," she replied shortly, stopping and then starting again.

"What do you mean? Nothing's happening, there's just gold light between their arms."

"Look closer Malfoy." Hermione snapped.

He observed Ron and Pansy trying to pull their arms away from each other, both shrieking loudly. Luckily, they were at the back and the Aurors were still around the middle. "Ah. Merlin, save us all."

"You don't understand, Malfoy. I created that spell. Them Hippogriffs at the Ministry changed it so..."   "So what?"

"It originally released it you after a small sign of affection but the word 'nuptia' comes from 'nuptias' which comes from 'nuptialum' which is Latin for marriage. AND it's 'not oh let's get married so we can get rid of each other', it's 'when you get married, you have to be in love' So you can see why I'm doomed."   "So basically we're stuck together by the arms until we fall in love and get married." Hermione only nodded in reply.

They were the only ones left but for some reason, the Aurors were having a mental conversation. Hermione could tell as they were taking extra time over their last pairs. Then, Thomas Lawson turned and muttered 'stupefy' twice, hitting them both full on the chest.
After using the body bind on the both, the other two picked them up and they followed Kingsley out with the limp bodies. No one noticed as they were too busy trying to release themselves or making the most of it.

Kingsley led them to a broom closet on the highest floor, where no one went, as it was above the living quarters of everyone and there were no classes held here.

The two bodies were laid on the floor, whilst Kingsley thought. "Glue them together by both arms and legs," he announced. Soon the two 20 years olds were facing each other in unconsciousness, with no choice on how to move. Kinglsey sighed. He really didn't want to do this but the Wizengamot was insistent.

He removed their wands and placed wards on the broom closet after laying them down in it. It was the size of a small bedroom and had a single bed, sink, bookshelf and bucket in it. There was also a desk in the corner, with two piles of robes.

He had adjusted the spell so that they could turn around if need be. "I'm sorry," he whispered to them. "It's the only way and you could say it's for the greater good."  He had no intention of quoting Grindelwald.

He closed the door and set more wards on it so they couldn't break out. Lawson was ordered to stand guard.   Half an hour later, Hermione woke up. And screamed.

Draco Malfoy's face was right in front of her and she soon found she couldn't move. At all. Then Malfoy woke up. And yelled right in Hermione's ear. "Ouch. Don't do that again, ferret." She snapped. And their began their time in the broom closet.
