LEVI POV
I walk down the busy hall towards the desk and take an immediate left then walk 10 doors down and enter into the quite little room that has a window that looks out onto the park just outside.
I walk in and sit in my familiar seat, one I have sat in from morning tell night every day for the past year.
I lean forward and take her hand and hold it, moments later she wakes up and turns her head and squints at me before smiling.
"Levi" she smiles through her raspy weak voice.
Just then a nurse I've gotten to know quite well walks in and greats me then Charolette.
"Good morning Mrs. Smith" she shouts to Charolette as she checks her vitals then takes her blood pressure. After we got married I realized I didn't really have a last name for her to take so we took a very basic generic one.
"I see your grandson has come to visit you again" she yells to Charolette then looks over to me and smiles.
"Good morning Levi" she says smiling to me and I give her a simple smile as she walks out of the room.
Aging has been hard on Charolette. She went from looking younger than me to older then to looking like she could be my mother and now she appears so old most people think I'm her grandson. It's easy for me to ignore everyone because she is still so perfect and beautiful to me, I've never cared about anyone's opinion but hers but I know it gets to her.
Charolette is now 107 years old and it's scaring me to death because there is only so much I can do for her anymore. I continue to heal her but her organs have gotten so old that even with me healing them they aren't very good anyways. The doctors have been saying that it's a miracle that she has made it this long.. figures. I know she is old and I can see that her quality of life consists of me visiting her and I know it's not much of a life but I still can't let her go even though I know I have to. Me holding her back from death at this point has become more about my selfishness and inability to let the only person that I've ever loved go, maybe that's wrong.
"What did you do last night" she asks looking over to me once again. I move my chair up closer to her and I kiss her hand.
"I looked through old photo albums" I say clearly so she understands me.
"What did you find" she says squeezing my hand.
"Pictures from Brazil. And Asia. And all over Europe" I start. "I found old ones from back at the pent house we first stayed in" I smile to her as she lifts her hand and runs it through my hair then puts her hand on my cheek. I shut my eyes and turn my face into her hand and kiss her palm.
"Anything interesting" She asks quietly.
"I found some very interesting ones from back in the pent house" I say grinning as I pull out an old photo of her laying completely naked on the bed waiting for me. I hand her the photo with a grin plastered on my face and she takes one look at it and hits me on the arm like she always does.
"Put that away" she says waving it away and I grab it and put it in my wallet.
"I remember that day like it was yesterday" I say giving her a smile.
"Why is that" she asks.
"I remember that day because you where especially interested in me" I say grinning and she hits me again as the nurse walks In with her breakfast. "13 times" I mouth to her and she just smiles and shakes her head and hits me again to behave as the nurse puts her food up on the table for her.
