After a short chat with Rema in the kitchen about your decision, you, her, and Romulus finished up making dinner and had a few maids help you carry it out to the dining table. Luciano and Flavio were already in there seated at their usual spots as Giovanni walked through the doors. Flavio was filing his nails with mild disinterest for the world around him. Luciano, on the other hand, was slowly twirling the butter knife at his place setting as he focused his gaze on a specific spot on the wall in front of him. Was once everything was out, the three of you sat down and ate your meal in silence. Dessert came and went and soon all that was left was tea and coffee.
"That was wonderful, Mama," Giovanni commented with a content sigh.
"Thank you, but I can't take all the credit for tonight's dinner. Romulus and (y/n) were a big help in the kitchen," Rema responded with a gentle smile as she placed a hand over one of her husband's
Romulus only grunted in return before taking a sip from his coffee cup. You smiled at the brothers and settled your gaze back down on the dark blue table cloth. The decision you made while making dinner with the two eldest Vargas family members still danced around in your mind. Was it really the right choice? Would you be happy with your choice in the long run, or would you live to regret it a few years later? You hoped it was the first of the two and sighed.
"What is it, bella? Something on your mind? Is dinner not sitting well in your stomach?" Flavio questioned, noticing your sigh and intense look of concentration.
You shook your head, not wanting to reveal what you planned to tell them just yet. You directed your eyes over to the brothers. Luciano was still twirling that butter knife since he didn't use it during dinner, and Flavio was smiling with a concerned look. Taking a deep breath through your nose, you stood up and motioned for them to follow you to a more private room. Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to take two men who had the hots for you into a room alone, but the look Romulus was giving you was a little unnerving. He knew your decision since he was there when you told Rema what you were going to do, and he didn't seem to approve of it. But since when did he approve of anything? He was a grump that pretty much hated everything and everyone. Rema would have been the only exception to his hate and maybe even his son and grandsons. From what you could tell, he didn't even really like his son's wife.
Anyway, you had the boys where you needed them, which was in the garden out back. Luciano still had the butter knife, which you found odd. With a heavy sigh through your nose, you pulled out your phone and went into the notes section. You opened the one note you wrote in the kitchen for this occasion and looked it over one last time before turning your phone's screen toward the Italian brothers. They moved closer to see better and after a little pushing and shoving, they read the text.
~Flavio's Ending~
"After some careful consideration, I've decided to come clean with you both. Flavio, as much as I don't want to admit it, I think I like you. I know I like you. I want to stay with you, but I have to return home. We can email and video chat daily if you'd like, but I can't stay."
Flavio was speechless. You chose him over his little brother, the young Mafia Boss? Well, he did almost murder you when you ran away that one time... But he couldn't blame you for running away! You were kidnapped, and you were just trying to have some normalcy in your life. Here you were though, telling him that you loved him and wanted to stay in contact. Flavio couldn't have been more elated.
A huge grin broke out on the blond's face before he scooped you up in his arms and twirled you around, chuckling as he set you back on your feet. You hand held on to his biceps and your phone for dear life. The last thing you needed was a broken bone or phone screen. Once on your feet, he kissed you on the lips. Your eyes widened slightly before letting your eyelids slid closed. You returned the kiss and cupped his face as his hands gripped your waist gently. Luciano didn't seem surprised by your choice, but he did feel heartbroken by it.
