The brothers had been fitted for their outfits in separate rooms below the Colosseum and had chosen their weapon for the "fights". Of course, none of the weapons were deadly. They were light weight and dull all while being meant to look like real weapons of the time period. The actors playing the guards then gave them the rundown of how the benefit events worked and the rules of fighting. The duo agreed to everything thrown at them. They were then brought to an area with all the other people who signed up as competitors. Luciano isolated himself to make up a good action plan to ensure his victory. Meanwhile, Flavio isolated himself to give him a chance to think about what he had just gotten himself into.
"What was I thinking? I'm not a fighter. I'm a lover!" he mumbled to himself. "Although, I could probably make it past the first few rounds... But what if I make it to fighting Luciano? I can't beat him... Then I'll lose my shot with (y/n)... No. I have to believe in myself!"
Luciano rolled his eyes as he noticed the look of determination on his elder brother's face. He wasn't worried about losing any of the battles. He had complete confidence in his fighting skills, even if the weapons weren't real. The younger Italian resituated his armor and looked at the ground. Just then his name was called to enter the arena. He gave Flavio one last look before dragging his sword with him into the arena. He was surprised as he walked out. The floor had been completely reconstructed, as had the seating areas and the emperor's box, where he saw you seated and looking as elegant as ever. His heart fluttered at the sight of you in a beautiful white flowing dress, gold arm bands, and a golden laurel tiara. You offered him a small smile and wave. He grinned and sent you a wink.
The announcer of the fights came on and introduced the two contestants of sorts, as well as listed the rules before the emperor gave the signal for the battle to begin. Luciano, will little effort, easily won his first fight and was proclaimed the victor. He was taken back under the arena and two other competitors were brought out. Flavio eventually went out and won his own fight. He had a hard time not being distracted by you, however, since you looked even more stunning than usual. The process continued and each of the boys went out a few more times until the two of them were the only undefeated warriors.
Flavio and Luciano found themselves escorted into the arena from two different entrances. They gazed at each other before looking over to the emperor's box. You watched with intrigued eyes and a gentle smile. You hoped they wouldn't take things too far as they began to fight one another. Despite Flavio's better judgement, he ran away from a wild swing from his brother's weapon. They audiences laughed as they observed the mock fight, but to Luciano, this was real. This was how he was going to win your heart.
On Flavio's end, he was just trying to calm himself down so he could not be injured by his brother and win so he could be your one true love. The boys both had let this fight go to their heads and hearts. After about a twenty minute fight, the announcer called off the fight and proclaimed both men victors seeing as though this could have gone on the rest of the day.
The emperor was escorted down into the arena along with you so that the victors could collect their rewards. The emperor announced that these two men would be allowed to court his "daughter" and that she may choose who she would like to marry when the time comes. This was your cue to give them their kisses on the cheek. You approached Flavio first and kissed his cheek gently. He smiled brightly as you pulled away. You then shuffled over to Luciano and gave him the same treatment as Flavio. He restrained himself from pulling you into a kiss on the lips. You have each of their cheeks little pats as the event concluded. Everyone in the audience applauded the participants and the event coordinators. They had done a job well done and announced how much everyone helped them raise for charity.
