Yoongi spent all of Christmas Eve thinking about what to get Victoria. She caught him staring absently at the products throughout the previous day as a surprising swarm of people came in and out, buying candles and bath salts as Christmas gifts. He kept wondering if buying expensive jewelry was appropriate or not. He was still a bit confused on the official status of their relationship—whatever it was.
They had spoken about kissing and even having sex. She called him her man. It was all too confusing, so he decided that he would take her out on a date that night. Hopefully, they would get caught under mistletoe and she would have to kiss him. His lip was a lot better. It was almost completely healed. She had no excuse to keep putting it off. Unless she didn't want to kiss him, but he didn't want to think that was true.
He was all ready to surprise her wearing a suit and holding a rose before he asked her to go out with him, but then a better idea came to his mind. So he didn't ask her out on Christmas Eve. He waited for her to fall asleep before preparing his surprise, careful to take off Holly's leash so he wouldn't give him away.
That morning, Victoria woke up before him. She was busy wrapping his gift before he got up, Holly nuzzling his nose between her arm and leg as she sat at the edge of the mattress. Once it was done, she moved over to the head of the bed and pulled Holly into her lap. With one hand she scratched his head and with the other, she laced her fingers through Yoongi's hair. She had discovered that he loved having his hair played with.
When he finally woke up, it was early afternoon. She was still sitting beside him, only staring fondly. Yoongi blinked groggily a few times and groaned. He had been up all night and was exhausted. "Morning, sleepy head," she said softly with a smile. "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, beautiful." He reached one hand up to caress her cheek, letting his fingers linger on her skin.
Victoria sighed contently and ran her fingers up and down his arm before pulling his hand away to look at the knuckles. They had been scabs for a few days and she suspected they would heal soon, leaving scars to remind them of the horrible wound.
His eye bruise was fading to yellow and green, so she knew it'd be gone within the next day or two. She reached behind her to grab the box she had wrapped so carefully a few hours prior and pushed it toward him. "Open it."
Yoongi smirked and sat up before placing his large hands on the small box. "What's this?"
"A present, dummy."
He tore the wrapping paper without care, too curious to find what lie inside. The box was decorated as her other ones were, but the design was completely different. Whereas the others had henna designs on the white cardboard, this one had vines with leaves and flowers winding all over it. In the center, his name was written in a whimsical font that he had never seen.
Yoongi felt a bit awkward with her watching him, but he was touched by the special presentation. His eyes flickered to hers quickly before he opened the box, being careful not to ruin it. Inside was a candle encased in glass, the wick sticking up new and untouched. There was no scent label, but a note was resting between the inside of the box and the glass.
He took the candle out along with the note and smiled at the first two words, which read "My Yoongi". He looked at her again, but she was staring down at her hands that were scratching Holly behind the ears. It was apparent by the way her face was red that she was embarrassed by the whole thing. But Yoongi wasn't. Yoongi wasn't scared or nervous. He wanted this with her. Silently, he continued reading the note scrawled in neat handwriting over an index card.
My Yoongi,
It feels like I've known you for a long time when in reality it's only been a few months. I guess it's easier for me to write this out because I'm not very good with, like, words and stuff. Speaking. But anyway, I really like you and it's kind of scary but I think It'll be okay because you're so sweet and kind and even though you can be detached and serious sometimes, you still show me that you care and you're nice to me and I just really appreciate that. I don't know how good I am at showing it, but I really do care about you, too. Perhaps it's a bit soon to call you mine, but I can't help it. The way you make me feel is like nothing I've ever experienced. This note is getting too long, so I'll end it here. Merry Christmas.
