Sky POV

Ashton was staring right at me without the slightest hint of emotion on his face

Over the years I learned to study and read people to see what emotion or thoughts might be going through their head. Whether it be their body language, their eyes or their words, people show emotions even without knowing it. Some learn to mask it while others wear it all on their sleaves.

Ashton must have been through some rough shit because I have never seen someone hide themselves like he is doing now.

"Ashy." Destiny got up and pratically flew into her brother's waiting arms.

"Hey there kiddo. How you feeling?" His features softened at the sight of his sister.

The closest thing to a family he has left. I feel so bad about what I said to him but the 3 words I wanted to say were stuck at the back of my throat. It's first time I ever felt bad about saying something to someone and I can't figure out why.

"Ashton did you do something to make this girl cry?" She looked at Ashton accusingly.

I watched in amazement as this 5 year old girl was scolding her 18 year old brother. Faith and I were close but these two seemed to have that special type of bond that would last forever.

"I just have a little temperature." She seemed to be hiding something from him. She was lying.

She was holding her hands behind her back and I didn't notice it before but I could have sworn that there was a cut on her arm. Ashton sensed that something was up and before either of us could blink, he grabbed her arm and lift her sleeve up.

There were small cuts on her arm that were fading away slightly but a bruise that was ever so present on her wrist.

She pulled her hand back and stared at her feet while Ashton looked like he was about to lose his shit.

"Destiny....how did you get those cuts and bruises?" He breathed out through gritted teeth.

Destiny was silent and looked on the verge of breaking down.

"I won't ask you again Destiny. How did you fucking get these on your arm?" He was like a ticking time bomb waiting to go off.

Destiny was now silently crying and mumbling under her breath but he was so angry he didn't hear her. I don't know what got into me; If it was me feeling guilty about what I said to Ashton or seeing Destiny having somewhat of a mini panic attack, but I decided to intervene. I walked over to her and stooped to her level.

"Hey hey hey it's ok. Why don't you take a deep breath and we can go into the girls' bathroom and talk." She looked at me for a while then nod her head.

I looked at Ashton and he had that same emotionless face whenever I look at him. It's funny how he went from concerned, to angry then emotionless. I silently asked him for permisson and he gave me a slight nod before walking into the principal's office. Not once did he looked me in my eyes.

I don't blame him though. He has every right to hate me. I deserve it. Just like how I deserved everything that ever happened to me.

I shook my head and picked up Destiny and carried her to the bathroom.

After cleaning her face up and giving her some water I had in my bag, I gave her sometime to calm down before I questioned her.

"You know he loves you right?" She shook her head.

"He is just worried about you because it looks like you had those cuts a long time and that mark on your arm is new. Did someone hurt you?" She opened her mouth to speak but hesitated.

She was afraid. Afraid of what might happen if she talks. Afraid of what Ashton might say. Afraid of what will happen if she sees this person or whoever did this to her.

She looked up at me with those big beautiful eyes and for a moment I pictured Faith in front of me and nearly broke down. I gave her a hug and she was shocked at first but gave into the hug.

She pulled back and took a deep breath.

"It was uncle Mark who did this to me." Her own uncle?

"You uncle Mark did this?" Why would her own family do this.

"Yeah. I saw him couple times with some other guys I never saw before. He came to my school and when I saw him  I was so happy. He took me to his car but something felt wrong. I felt...afraid."

At such a young age, she already knows when she is in danger.

"He kept on asking about where dad was but when I told him that dad was gone he grabbed my hand. I told him that it hurts and he said that he was gonna do worst if I didn't tell hin where dad was." She was beginning to cry again.

I rest my hands on her own and gave her a nod to continue. It must be hard for her to remeber everything.

"I told him that daddy was dead and he looked schocked at first but then he squeezed my hand even more and told me to tell Ashton something."

"Tell him what?"

She shook her head. She didn't want to repeat what he said. Was it bad?

"Destiny. You have to tell me what he said. Don't worry about it, Ashton won't let him hurt you." Hearing Ashton's name seemed to push her over the edge as she broke down crying again.

When she finally calm down, she told me what he said. At first I was shocked but when she reached into her bag and took it out, time literally felt like it was frozen.

My skin shivered and filled with goosebumps as my own heart rate began to beat fast. I can't imagine what kind of family Destiny and Ashton are apart of but there is more to it than meets the eye.

"He told me that he was going to use this gun and kill me and Ashton."
