Evening was always fun in Isaga Orile; at least, to the soccer lovers, I wasn't really a football lover, I preferred watching the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Carling Cup, I wasn't really a fan of watching or playing the local football, I was more of an introvert, a fragile one. Lol.
I was bored.Unknown: (Knock Knock Knock)
A voice from behind my door- a female's voice, I was just waking up from sleep, I couldn't figure out the voice.
Hey
Who Whooo..... Who's there?
With some sleepy voice, I asked...
Voice: Your mates are outside enjoying soccer, you are there sle.....
(I was able to pin point the voice and I knew it was Stella's).
Hey there, gimme some minutes.
(I needed time to put on my shirt and trousers as the heat in Isaga Orile wasn't bearable, the room was a bit stuffy- four guys in a small room with just one window, and of course, there was no light to turn on the fan, I was already used to that being a Nigerian too. Having packaged myself and cleared the room a bit as the room was rough, four farmers in a room, cutlasses, hoes, farm boots all messy around with dishes that weren't all done.
Messy room indeed! I couldn't afford to leave the room like that and welcome a visitor, even though it was Stella whom I wasn't.......
really expecting).Mide: Hey dear, you can come in
Stella: So you had to take thirty minutes?
Was she in?Mide: So funny (with some straight face 😐)
Stella: That was just a joke, you know right?
(hitting me on the arms)Mide: You could have at least sent a text earlier to prepare me
Stella: Prepare?
Mide: Yes prepare
At least, what you guys started at Mayweather's eatery.Stella: We were only teasing you Mide, what's the crime with that?
Mide: You guys sounded serious and I was trying to tell you that...
(Mide's phone rings)
Mide: (with some smile on his face picks the call)
Oh babe, what happened to your line?
Tried your number whole day yesterday
Person on phone: I'm very sorry, the signal was real crappy throughout yesterday, ma binuMide: It's okay baby...
(Phone conversation lasted for about five minutes, Stella tried to hide the jealousy but Mide could see it in her eyes, and well- he could care less)Stella: I think I should get her number
Mide: Get whose number?
Stella: At least to let her know there's someone around the corner...
Mide: Uh?
Stella: Not one, not two...
Mide: I hear you
(knowing she was only trying to twist things)After spending about two hours talking and having fun, Mide decides to walk outside, she was already feeling sleepy, stress of the farm wasn't very easy on either of us.
I walked out of the hostel only to meet Kemi walking out of her hostel to get snacks from the lady outside her hostel.
Mide: Hey you! No wonder you excused making a promise to me on the farm.
